Illinois 21, Michigan 7 Postgame

My Huskers just looked terrible yesterday but I give some credit to Indiana....that's an unexpectedly good team

Husker fans are so hungry these days and desperately wanting a team that begins to resemble the great Big Red teams of old.

And Husker fans this season began to believe that a corner had finally been turned for the program after 20-plus years of wandering the Plains Desert and that the dark days of the past were now behind them. Only to find out that the long reach of the continuing trail of Red Tears is not yet done with giving them some Halloween-Style torture and drenched hopes.

But Husker fans should not get too despondent. A corner has been turned for the program. A foundation is being built. But yesterday’s grotesque result shows that much work still needs to be done.

Some Husker fans are already worried that the stud QB might transfer out. Well, in the new World of The Portal – that’s a concern for every program every year so no big deal. If any guy doesn’t want to play for you (not referring to Dylan here) then he needs to move on so your program can move on.

Nebraska is learning that the old days of rolling over lesser opponents for much of your schedule is over as they did in the old Big 8. Texas and Oklahoma right now are learning that it’s gonna much tougher now playing the Big Boys in the SEC. And this is also being learned by the likes of USC and UCLA who now have joined a tougher Conference in the Big Ten and who have tougher competition that they used to have.

The overall state of College Ball has never been stronger or more fun than right now. Yes, some legacy winning programs are having to have an attitude adjustment. But the years of their enjoying the Fools Gold of dominating outmanned opponents is now thankfully over and winning ain't so easy any more.

Wins are now tougher to get. And that makes the times when you win that much sweeter.

haha

in general, I appreciate Portnoys attitude and admire his ability to make a buck

but I am tired of his love of scUM and his repeated ability to open a standard chicago pizza box with the side flaps.
also, while Ive never had New Haven coal fired pizza, I already know I would not favor it over chicago tavern style thin crust cut into small pieces
Ive had NY pizza and was not a fan
At risk of a Pizza tangent, Piece in Wicker Park calls their pizza New Haven Style.

Having lived in Ukrainian Village and taken advantage of the Piece Sunday deal many a time, it's good but still not as good as tavern style or even deep dish. It was just too good a deal for the money to pass up

My son and d-i-l work for U M. I'm still waiting for his call/text/whatever to say how well IL played.

I was thinking of sending him a one word text yesterday:
BWHAHAHAHAHA

I chose to take the high road for now. I have two grandsons that I want to see in a couple of weeks.

A little less coordinated than 1983, but it’s been 41 years and the stadium redesign slows things down substantially, so I’ll cut ‘em some slack. 😉

Yeah Jacas was flashy and terrific (finally that version reappears) but TeRah really put in a yeoman's shift for us against a big, strong OL.
I have to hand it to Jacas and anyone around him as his support system, so to speak. Huge accolades his freshman year. Sophomore year not so good including lots of questioning by fans. Even talk of a transfer. He hung in there, stayed focused, and is putting himself back into NFL conversations.

Most underrated play: 3&12 conversion on that TD drive right after the fumble. Don't pick that up - no TD, you go 3 and out with no points not capitalizing on a turnover... massive play.

What a catch going low to the ground... Franklin's just so sound in every facet.

he’s been a huge part of our success
we all knew we needed him & knew what he could do after his success against us three years ago

It might be silly, but I legitimately teared up watching the intro yesterday. They took an event that was incredibly meaningful for us and gave it the proper historical context and reverence it deserved. The history of our program is integral to the history of college football and CBS made darn sure every single person watching understood that. My hat is off to all those involved with the production because they did a remarkable job.

this may seem controversial, but the vast majority of the time we deserved the BTN slot. doormats don't get marquee slots

also, I have no idea why you think Peacock (NBC) screwed us
I think he just meant that any team playing on BTN, FS1 or Peacock isn’t going to get some great production … we saw what it looks like when you get to be in a big matchup on a big-time network, and it’s SO much better. You’re not getting drone shots of Memorial Stadium on BTN! Lol.
