Illinois 21, Michigan 7 Postgame

About the Leary 2 point attempt.
Please remember, BB has been singing the praises for Leary I think going back to last January about his progress and maturity as a top QB.
So an unexpected opportunity opened up at that point in the game and BB just went with it.
Also remember Luke missed the last three games last year so I expect to see Leary get more playing time after Oregon if only to keep Luke healthy and strong to finish a full season and give Leary more game time experience.
Was I holding my breath on that play? You bet I was because my expectation was to have Fichie intercept/recover fumble and return it 100+ yards for their own 2 point score as is per usual for Illinois football in the past.
Finally, that Leary pass was just so perfect as if he had been there before.

Lol! Well, he's a Michigan fan. If anyone knows about illegal things, it's him. Maybe he should cry in his pizza, I hear he liked it salty.
haha

in general, I appreciate Portnoys attitude and admire his ability to make a buck

but I am tired of his love of scUM and his repeated ability to open a standard chicago pizza box with the side flaps.
also, while Ive never had New Haven coal fired pizza, I already know I would not favor it over chicago tavern style thin crust cut into small pieces
Ive had NY pizza and was not a fan

I would think that call would need to be approved by BB, but would originate with the special teams coordinator

agree that it was not Lunneys best day of play calling . Iā€™m tired of going up the gut on 1st down all the time and getting nothing .

we have a great college qb & two great wideouts and we donā€™t utilize those skills nearly enough . yes , itā€™s all about winning , but scoring 28-32 points per game will often help . I love running the ball , but running into the 1 or 2 gap doesnā€™t seem to work well for us
With the exception of a very few number of years, I've been saying this since 1955.... So welcome to the club..

Wow! It is all still so wow! First time in my life Iā€™m completely confident in illinois football, but like Bret said in the video post from our boy Dan a couple above this ā€œwhat do you want to with itā€

I know what I want to do.

Yeah, beating a team with 2 losses ranked behind us probably isnā€™t ā€œstormā€ worthy, but I get the sense the players (and maybe recruits?) love it, so Iā€™m ok with it, and honestly, if that is our only complaint about yesterday, then I guess ā€œstorm awayā€!
For those of us with gray hair beating Michigan despite their record is big. Theyā€™ve owned us.

With 3 min to go, a friend of mine (Iowa fan, but don't hold it against him) texted me and said "game is over". I told him I prefer to not count my chickens before they've hatched, scar tissue, and how we've oftentimes snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory.

His response: "Bert is better than that".
My friend, an Ohio State fan, did something similar.

Someone this week before the game mentioned this may be the best O & D lines we will face this year. Is that still your opinion?

Curious, why are people online all angry over the throw back uni, saying they should be illegal?

jealousy? trolling? legit regulations broken?

Didnā€™t see if itā€™s been addressed somewhere.

(Fact: they were pure šŸ”„. I was thinking it could be our new Uni in multiple colors. It was the first time I felt Illinois had a real brand identity since Chief retired)
IDK where you read. On the Reddit CFB live thread it was probably 75/25 in favor; some snarks of course, some donā€™t likes. But mostly people identifying themselves as fans of other teams had good things to say. This is a national forum with 8,000 comments on our game; it was one of the most commented on games of the day.

i highly doubt any regulations were ā€œbrokenā€ or that they needed a waiver .

for me , the only tough thing was no names on the backs of jerseys . I guess PSU & ND fans just get used to it .
I just donā€™t know the whole roster by number .

Lunney didnt make the call on the fake punt, Bret did.
I figured Bret had to okay it, but reading here that it sounds like more special teams + Bret than Lunney.

I can go back to denigrating him, then. Thanks!

That was the best gameday environment at Memorial Stadium I've experienced in 30 or so games.

Also, the first time I had difficulty with parking, as my go-to spots that were easy to get to in all the other 30 games I've been to were now full. That's a function of a great thing and I'll have to adjust!
