"The event will be invite-only due to capacity limits"

DIA going backwards here, seems like an old school DIA decision.

I can see why Papa Del's might not want to host it anymore. There's not much room in there to begin with and I'm sure there were some people that were there only to see the coach's show and didn't actually order any food or drinks.

Was it Papa Del's decision? I went a handful of times. Papa Del's was never at capacity and everyone I observed had ordered food. I've never been to Papa Del's on Neil unless it was the BB show. Although I do need to correct never going there unless it was the BB show, I do like the pizza.

Seeing some of the players in person is the only way my wife has any interest in football. She found a "boyfriend" to follow every year via the BB & BB show:D She's ask me at the game, "What number is my boy?"

My plan is to get a T-shirt made that says, Just Wait Till Basketball Season - and wear it around town each fall...
That should get me some funny looks! 😁
I don’t disagree we’re the better program and better the past few years but they have a final 4 and 3 total sweet 16s the past decade… I think you’ll get funny looks for a non-intended reason lol.

From what I saw in the training camp video it looks like Altmeyer is still taking just as long as he did last year to throw the ball. I know on some of those throws there was no pass rush but you should still approach it at game speed. It doesn't do you any good to be accurate when you're not getting the ball out quickly. I hope he proves me wrong. If he can go through his progressions and get the ball out as fast as Paddock did it would make a huge difference. Like finishing in the middle to upper third of the big10 vs ending up near the bottom.

Now that the top 25 is out I will make my predictions
(Rankings are for what I think they will be ranked when we play them)

Vs Eastern Illinois W 37-9 (Bret doesn’t run up the score against teams like this)
Vs #21 Kansas L 27-24 (Hard fought loss)
Vs Central Michigan W 31-17
@ #25 Nebraska L 31-7 (We always lose our first road game)
@ #8 Penn St L 41-14
Vs Purdue L 26-23
Vs Michigan W 31-20 (Not the same team as last year plus having our throwbacks on will give us momentum) Drinking the orange kool aid for this one
@ #5 Oregon L 45-10
Vs Minnesota W 30-17 (Bret still owns PJ)
Vs Michigan St L 20-17 (We always get screwed out of 1 game)
@ Rutgers W 21-20
@ *Northwestern (Wrigley Field) L 38-35 ( Another heart breaking loss)
Overall 5-7 (3-6)

Preseason AP Poll

3 Oregon
8 Penn State
9 Michigan
22 Kansas

For comparison, here are the number of ranked teams we have faced each year (regular season only for apples to apples). Considering that two are on the road and three are in the top 10, it is a very clear step up from the past several years. It would be the first time we have faced 4 ranked teams since 2017, and this would be the first time we played 3 top 10 teams since 1998.

I'm in! I'll go with this...

W 28-10 vs. Eastern Illinois
W 31-28 vs. #22 Kansas
W 24-20 vs. Central Michigan (a terrifyingly close call that should raise some red flags...)
L 30-16 at Nebraska (and we only get our last TD late; people start to freak out)
L 38-14 at #8 Penn State
W 34-30 vs. Purdue (we finally break this curse and do just enough for a great crowd vs. Michigan)
L 31-23 vs. #9 Michigan (we play inspired for most of the game but have a 2007-esque disappointing finish ... praying I am wrong, but losing on this type of stage is just our MO until proven otherwise)
L 52-14 at #3 Oregon (real ugly comedown game)
W 28-17 vs. Minnesota (as you said, there is no medicine for us like playing the Goofs and PJ!)
L vs. Michigan State (back down to Earth with an infuriating loss)
W 24-21 at Rutgers (SO much more like the Illini to get that "good win" on the road only after disappointing the home crowd yet again, lol...)
W 31-20 vs. Northwestern at Wrigley (we refuse to lose to them again in the city of Chicago and a friendly Illini crowd gives us extra motivation)

7-5 and a nice rebound year after last season.

Yikes. 8 wins in the last 20 seasons against ranked teams.

#144
I see 6 wins.

Vs Eastern Illinois Win
Vs #21 Kansas Loss
Vs Central Michigan Win
@ #25 Nebraska Loss
@ #8 Penn St Loss
Vs Purdue Win
Vs Michigan Loss
@ #5 Oregon Loss
Vs Minnesota Win
Vs Michigan St Win
@ Rutgers Loss
@ Northwestern Win

Have to beat Purdue if we don't beat Kansas or fan enthusiasm going to be very low.

I do not understand why people are so high on Nebraska and us getting blown out by them. They have had 7 consecutive losing seasons and now they are top 25????
I think it's more of people not willing to trust us in our first road game than being high on nebraska...just look at our first road game history...the gist isn't all that hard to get.

If we don't win any of Purdue, Kansas, Nebraksa...pretty much will mean we're going into week nine 2-6...that's a real disappointment IMO.
