Last year the Big Ten schedule was released on September 19th. Now that games are starting to leak out hopefully they'll release it this week but who knows. (October 3rd last year was when times & TV were announced.) Go Illini

Edit, also couldn't hurt to follow B1GMBBall, they may give 24-hr notice of the schedule release show on BTN like they did last year.
Dan knows all !

I hope someone with serious Chicago roots or ties, or both would be better. Chi town is a basketball gold mine, we need a trusted coach to the Chicago coaching community and hs players.

Yaklich is 43 and from LaSalle originally and coached in Chicago. He probably is the most logical. What about Nick Irvin or someone like Dexter Young?

I wouldn’t mind winning every game by 30

Yikes. That’s hard no. Lol

Yaklich is without a job cuz he was fired at UIC as their HC
Maybe a pattern....

AO failed coaching effort
Yaklich failed coaching effort

Maybe Coach can make it work again.

At what point does the BIG Network add one of their overflow channels to a permanent channel with 18 teams? Unfortunately they will probably put those games on BIG+ and make you pay more.

With football, BTN is regional so they could go that route.

So coaches are better assistants than head coaches.
Don't believe that is true for all but definitely for some.

Will say some assistant coaches never make a great head coach
Coach U is willing to give an opportunity to a former head coach to rebuild a resume.

First its La Salle(with a space).

Two. Yaklich has vastly more experience being an asst at ISU, coaching with John Beilein at Michigan(handled the defense), and worked with Shaka at Texas before getting head coaching experience at UIC.

Yaklich has both coached high school in Joliet and college in Chicago so I wouldnt be worried about recruiting connections in the city(I'm sure he's well connected).

I don't really think Nick Irvin or Dexter Young would be in the same realm of caliber of assistant coach as Yaklich would be.

For those who are curious about names ... I have been given the 5 below ... Internal promotion is also on the table ...

Rod Clark, Stephen Gentry, Luke Yaklich, Ulric Maligi, and Luke Barnwell ...
Clark would be a super interesting poach from Tennessee.

Maligi and Barnwell both have interesting backgrounds.

But I kinda want both Gentry and Yaklich and then kick Hamer to the curb or back to an analyst role.

Offense won’t be a problem … Tyler shadowed Gentry when he was here … That’s part of why Tyler is such an elite offensive mind …

Yaklich is a defensive specialist … If he came in … That’s where he’d specialize …

Clark was all set to go to Michigan this off season and that fell apart for various reasons … He’s been looking for an out for a little while …

Barnwell would be the toughest one to pull away IMO …
