Chicago Cubs 2024

Zac Gallen's line: 5.0 Innings, 3 Hits, 6 Walks, 0 Runs. This includes 2nd and 3rd with nobody out in 5th and he had over 90 pitches at the time.
This team is clutch.
You would have thought that one of those .190 hitters would have come through. Then they would have only lost 3-1 or maybe 3-2.
If the season was 20 games maybe I could watch, but I'm not watching this crap 162 times. Life's too short to waste it on garbage.

No. It was Suzuki and Happ that struck out for the first 2 outs.
IF I watch (which isn't too often) it's in double speed. As soon as they get down by 2 or 3 runs I quit. This team never comes back from a deficit.

Hoyer comments yesterday:

"I think where we are right now, I would say that moves only for '24 — unless things change over the next week — we probably won't do a lot of moves that only help us for this year," Hoyer said to reporters. "If moves help us in '25 and beyond, I think we're still exceptionally well positioned. I think that's what our focus will be. But just helping in '24, I think that probably won't be our focus unless things change dramatically."

Sounds like there's a good chance they will be sellers...and rightfully so.

well, they have no reason to be buyers.
they either need to sell some talent at a high price or they need to stand pat and ad to the roster in the FA market this winter

its not good right now as is .

Sadly I guess, I still watch essentially every inning of every game.
-- Prefer watching the Cubbies over any/all other MLB games.
-- Definitely prefer baseball over the Olympics.
-- Admittedly, I will prioritize Bears/Illini football if on simultaneously this fall (and then watch Cubs later that day)

Thinking we just might be in the midst of a 7-game win streak that will change Jed's thought process.........

You have more patience and time than me. I will try to watch every Bears, and Illini FB & BB.

Cubs' offense continues their first half dominance heading into 2 crucial series at home after the All Star break, hitting on all cylinders with 7 runs in 5 games.
PCA and Morel can't be on a winning team's lineup. (Not saying they shouldn't be playing.....just saying a WINNING team's lineup.)

For as much crap as Morel has gotten for his play at 3rd this year, he made several sparkling plays last night.

Let me correct myself. Morel shouldn't be playing. His hitting has been a bigger disappointment than his fielding.

it really is hard to understand why the Cubs are really so much more like the Mets than the Braves . Geez, I would even accept them just being as good as the Brewers

I can’t understand how a team as desperate for Slugging as the Cubs are, who don’t have an everyday DH, can’t figure out how to get Alexander Canario Big League at bats.

In any case, if the Cubs are going to be scoring 2 runs a game, they should be doing it with Canario, Caissie, Mervis and Ballesteros in the lineup.

Clear the way for Shaw, Triantos and Alcantara to move up to AAA.

most Cub fans , myself included , were willing to give the Rickets a 5 year honeymoon for winning a WS & making the park & immediate area a truly awesome place for any baseball fan to take in a game .

But since the 2022 season (post covid) , they have been a disaster . it’s time to get real about winning or get out of the game . there is just no excuse .

I can’t watch them anymore and haven’t since mid May when they started losing 2 outta 3 every series

I have been in and out depending on recent results. It's become like watching the same movie over and over again...the surprise twist is always that we get a slim lead and lose the game in the late innings.
