Chicago Cubs 2024

When Tauchman or Bellinger comes back, I don’t know how they play both Morel and Suzuki in the same lineup. Suzuki showed again last night that he needs to be at DH when the Cubs have enough healthy outfielders for him to do so. But then, if Morel never starts hitting, it doesn’t really matter.
Reports are the several teams are interested in Morel, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him moved.

He's so easy to like, but if his defense isn't good he certainly needs to hit. Likeability doesn't win ballgames. Loveable losers are not who I want to cheer.

The kid has prodigious power, but severe contact and defensive issues. Kyle Schwarber has made a pretty good career with a similar skill set. Put him in a lineup that gets on base, and he will be the icing on the cake. We don't have enough cake right now to justify all that icing. We need to get on base. The occasional solo HR isn't moving the needle for us.
We are wasting one of the best starting rotations we have had in years. Hopefully they can keep the bats warmed up through this trip to StL and carry it over to the second half. Hopefully, Canario is ready for his close up. With Cody out, this should be his best opportunity to date.

IMO, Cubs have to ride it out with Morel. If this is all he is, you should find that out. If he's traded and hits his potential elsewhere it's going to be maddening. If the Cubs got an ace closer in return, that would make it easier to accept. IMO, I wouldn't take anything less for him.

You'll never get an ace closer for him unless it's a rent-a-player.

The gave Kyle Schwarber away for free. Of the core, he and Rizzo have been the best.

I think Morel is the long term sh.

I'm running out of things to complain about. The starting pitching (and bullpen!) has been incredible the last 10 days. One hiccup vs. the Angels, otherwise 2 runs or less in 7 of 8. 3 runs in 5 games.

Cubs have a better home record than every team in the division other than Milwaukee. The've been abysmal on the road, so to win 4 in a row is a big change. They were 17-28 on the road before this stretch.

Assad off the IL and starting game 2 tonight. I like the Cubs’ chances of splitting today. Then I’ll take the J-Mo versus Mikolas pitching matchup tomorrow for the series win heading into the ASB.

Since I'm only able to watch the game on Marquee (thanks Xfinity/Bally), I'd have to imagine this is about the worst start you all could have for Wesneski in the first inning of this one. They already brought up on the broadcast how limited Assad will be in Game 2 as you'd think the long relief guy would be needed to back him up in that one.

64 games left. Probably need to got 37-27 minimum to make a run at the playoffs.

Not impossible, but they’ve left themselves no margin for error.
The Cubs would have to pass 6 teams to become the bottom wildcard team. Some of those teams will surely be buyers. 3.5 games behind the #3 spot. Going to have to continue the outstanding play before the trade deadline. If not, I don't see it happening

2025 MLB Schedule was announced earlier this week. Cubs will open the season with two games in Tokyo vs. the Dodgers on March 18 and 19. Cubs stateside season opener will be March 27 at Arizona. Cubs home opener will be on April 4 vs. San Diego. Biggest change to schedule next season will be interleague rivalry series being 3-game series in each city rather than the 2-game series in each city they have done in recent years.

First series against the Brewers will be May 2-4 in Milwaukee. First series at Wrigley will be June 17-19.

Cubs-Sox at Wrigley will be May 16-18. Cubs-Sox on the South Side will be July 25-27.

First Cubs-Cardinals series will be June 23-26 at Busch. First series at Wrigley is July 4-6.
