And then you compare it to the treatment that Arterio Morris received. One allegation, that matched Shannon's perfectly but with a witness actually seeing it occur, was not even pursued by the D.A. and then the D.A. went on to dismiss the rape charge against him due to lack of evidence. I do not understand what made Shannon's case a better pursuit than Morris'.
Morris was a KU basketball player: TSJ was not. And the local DA needed a distraction at that particular point in time.
With that said, I believe the LPD did not really investigate this case because they say it for what it was based upon video showing the interaction must have occurred in substantially less than 38 seconds - a case where getting a conviction would be almost impossible and therefore a waste of their time.

I listened to the most recent Eye on College Basketball podcast, seeing as how it was mostly about Coleman and Terrance.

He actually does have a point, in my opinion. The university certainly rode the line between the rule and the legal ruling. They could have said, "we believe in our rule , but in this case we simply believe this is a false accusation because we know Terrance Shannon Jr. and believe him."

Parrish says this was his contention all along. I aim to re-listen what he said in January.
In cases of sexual assault charges/allegations safeguards were put in to remove the decision to play out of the hands of coaches and the athletic department. Independent boards were created to recommend/decide.

Illinois and Whitman had to follow the policy that was in place. Problem is the Kansas DA elevated the issue, pressed charges and gave the illusion there was more evidence forthcoming. They also failed to communicate, further creating mystery and using the "charges" as the evidence for non-judicial process boards such as the Illinois committee that ruled t o suspend..

The federal judge called BS, he was innocent until proven guilty.

If there was evidence a crime took place Illinois would have made it clear that you may eventually suit up but you won't play. But there was never any evidence.

Those advocating against TSJ used the charges as evidence and never did their own research. This is what the CBS Podcaster did. He is backpeddling now and looking for synchophants to share his opinion.

Thank you for the shout-out!

Honestly, I thought he was innocent since the actual charges were revealed and the best way to prove that was to learn as much as I could about the case. And then from there, to educate others about what I was learning so they too could be convinced of his innocence. However, unlike members of the media, I shared whatever I found so others could form their own opinions.

Over these past 7-ish months I've read hundreds of pages of legal documents and news articles regarding this and the result of all of that (beyond the learning itself) is I have far more faith in Terrence Shannon Jr. as a person and far less faith in the legal system and the media than when I started. I keep going back to DyShawn Hobson's testimony that he provided all the way back in January. A sober graduate assistant effectively serving as a chaperone saw nothing, and when you combine that with what little evidence there was, for the D.A. to continue to pursue these charges is outrageous.

And then you compare it to the treatment that Arterio Morris received. I am proud that the vast majority of Illini fans stood with Terrence Shannon Jr. We were told "let things play out in court" while opposing fanbases hurled terrible insults at him and media members wanted him treated as Guilty. We could have sat silently, we could have refused to cheer, but we didn't. This is apparently controversial, and thankfully did not end up applying to Shannon, but I would not hold it against anybody for cheering for someone ultimately found Guilty, because until that verdict is read, they deserve their presumption of innocence, and if we as fans are supposed to let things play out in court, then we should be able to cheer until that day. Allegation is not conviction.
Let me see if I can explain IlliniFan42. Valdez was the elected DA in Lawrence, Kansas, home of the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team. Morris was a Jayhawks basketball player. TSJ was an Illinois basketball player. Wonder why she dropped the charges against Morris but proceeded against TSJ??? She's not just incompetent, but she is a hypocrite also.

The alleged victim in the Morris case probably stopped cooperating (didn’t want to testify/just wanted to move on with her life/etc). That would also explain why KU also dropped the university proceedings against Morris at the same time.
