Parrish's podcast was just what I expected...a bunch of excuses, half-truths, and him blathering on and on. The only good thing is more amplification of the news of Terrence's innocence.

The Sleepers guys are always entertaining and they're not A-holes like Gary Parrish. I love how much coverage they give the Illini and the Big 10 in general. Looking forward to the interview they're doing with 3 time Big 10 champion Coleman Hawkins...His second time being on their pod.
Don't get me wrong, Waddell has had some missteps of his own such as giving the Illini a D+ last offseason due to not closing the deal with RayJDennis or calling Coleman Hawkins out during the season(it sounds like the fences have been mended) but they are both entertaining and come off as likeable for the most part. I like Field of 68 more but Sleepers Media has made some gains for sure in the popularity department. As for Parrish, it's nice to see that he is getting his name dragged through the mud here b/c he does wreak of an arrogant and smug guy

Sleeper's guy said it well. Amazing story. One thing I wonder is whether NIL gave him the ability to defend himself where years ago, maybe a college player struggles to do that.

How did TSJ manage to keep going and believe in himself with the mobs and media throwing him to the wolves. Guy needs to write his story --could add a movie deal as dramatic as this has been. Who will play Parrish?

Sleepers aren't perfect but they are funny...

This is why I feel like there needs to be a pretty strong push to get some of these major media outlets to investigate and share the actual story.

I’ve previously emailed the general editor email at The Athletic (editor@theathletic.com) asking for one of their writers to do this. I think more people need to push the issue. This was such an awful character assassination that the real story needs to be told far and wide.

To be honest, I personally think this is more important than any civil case. The real truth - that TSJ is a totally innocent man dragged through a completely bogus case against him - needs to be a major story to help get his good name back.
I just sent a email to the editor@theathletic.com asking them to publish a formal public apology to TSJ. Hopefully other loyalty members will do the same.

The judge did, just surprised this was allowed. Or that the prosecutor would allow herself to give such nonsense, really makes her look very unprofessional. If this trial is fact based, why speak on memes and stereotypes.
Because that is all they had left of their case that should never have been filef

I think a de-aged Bob Gunton would be interesting. We know he can be “obtuse” at least. That much is clear. BG would have to dig deep in order to go FULL, simpleton-inbecile…and really capture the essence tho….

Regarding Parrish, I don’t know who would play that tool. But whoever it is, he would need to sniff his middle finger every 5 seconds. What the heck is up with that ridiculous habit? That back peddling, nonsensical soapbox he was on made him look like a complete fool…. as if sniffing his finger non-stop hadn’t already accomplished that.

You don't want to know where that finger went off-camera...

I listened to enough Parrish and Norlander prior to this incident to know that Parrish is funny when he just sticks to his more humorous side. His bit on Indiana is great.

But his politics bleed out on serious issues. Let's just say he's too far on one side of the aisle and he can't see issues like this clearly.

I listened to the most recent Eye on College Basketball podcast, seeing as how it was mostly about Coleman and Terrance.

He actually does have a point, in my opinion. The university certainly rode the line between the rule and the legal ruling. They could have said, "we believe in our rule , but in this case we simply believe this is a false accusation because we know Terrance Shannon Jr. and believe him."

Parrish says this was his contention all along. I aim to re-listen what he said in January.

Terrence Shannon's case is currently not viewable in the online system. They might be cleaning it up/going through some sort of archival process. I was hoping to post it one last time when it actually said completed.
Will that include a full transcript of the case?

As this long nightmare for TJ draws to a close, I’d like to give a shout-out to IL42. IMO you have provided a broad array of valuable and well-reasoned posts to better understand the behind-the-scenes. There were many great inputs by others as well…I think a nice tribute to all posters collectively, as (even with mostly IANALs) this board correctly saw the outcome long before the trial…despite being a typically biased sports board. But IL42 typically brought clarity and education to complex issues…just what was needed in the fog of all the unknowns.

And in the end, I still find myself stunned and amazed by the strength and resilience of TJ himself, his mother, his family, etc. Through all of this they never once lashed out in anger. Never pointed fingers. Never complained. Always chin up and positive. Where and how did they find the strength? IMHO…that’s one hell of a young man.…gotta be one in a million to weather that kind of a storm with that much class!

Rootin’ for him in next weeks draft! And yes…RAFTERS!

Thank you for the shout-out!

Honestly, I thought he was innocent since the actual charges were revealed and the best way to prove that was to learn as much as I could about the case. And then from there, to educate others about what I was learning so they too could be convinced of his innocence. However, unlike members of the media, I shared whatever I found so others could form their own opinions.

Over these past 7-ish months I've read hundreds of pages of legal documents and news articles regarding this and the result of all of that (beyond the learning itself) is I have far more faith in Terrence Shannon Jr. as a person and far less faith in the legal system and the media than when I started. I keep going back to DyShawn Hobson's testimony that he provided all the way back in January. A sober graduate assistant effectively serving as a chaperone saw nothing, and when you combine that with what little evidence there was, for the D.A. to continue to pursue these charges is outrageous.

And then you compare it to the treatment that Arterio Morris received. One allegation, that matched Shannon's perfectly but with a witness actually seeing it occur, was not even pursued by the D.A. and then the D.A. went on to dismiss the rape charge against him due to lack of evidence. I do not understand what made Shannon's case a better pursuit than Morris'.

I am proud that the vast majority of Illini fans stood with Terrence Shannon Jr. We were told "let things play out in court" while opposing fanbases hurled terrible insults at him and media members wanted him treated as Guilty. We could have sat silently, we could have refused to cheer, but we didn't. This is apparently controversial, and thankfully did not end up applying to Shannon, but I would not hold it against anybody for cheering for someone ultimately found Guilty, because until that verdict is read, they deserve their presumption of innocence, and if we as fans are supposed to let things play out in court, then we should be able to cheer until that day. Allegation is not conviction.
