St Louis Cardinals 2024

Nice to get this win and to see DC contribute. I saw a stat that DC had 109 career rbi's with runners in scoring position(111 now), does anyone else think that seems high for him? I DC can put it all together.
DC has pretty good numbers driving in runners with less than 2 outs in his short career

Problem I have with DC(beside staying healthy) is he sucks against right hand pitching and will face them at a higher rate than lefties. If he can figure that out than he has staying power.

Management put him on a pedestal and thought he was close in talent to Juan Soto years ago. I am hoping DC can stick but not ruling out him being another TON in the sense of he has talent but injuries and inconsistency will lead him to another team. We have a few arbitration years to figure it out.

1 out top of the third and Cardinals already have 2 errors today.........not the Cardinals way of playing defense........28 errors since May 10th.........................yikes........

New life! They let us off the hook 3-3.
Man, did I just Mother F Goldy when he beat that ball in the ground and then they threw it away. My wife told me to apologize to Paul. 🤓

Let’s go Pallante! I put a few units on the boys today, I hope they respect making coin.

On a serious note, I know we are limited in choices and I’m sure he is a fine person, but I’ve seen enough of Ivan behind the plate. Guy can’t block anything and his noodle arm is embarrassing. I think he has only thrown out 1 would be base stealer. I can’t recall the circumstances of him throwing that runner out, but I’d imagine that guy is still hearing about it in his club house.

Tommy can’t get back soon enough either. We need more options at 2nd. I know I’ve been on this train, but Gorman can not be trotted out there every day at 2nd. Just can’t.

THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cardinals split the 4 game series with the Rockies , winning today 5-1............

Pallante with 5 strong innings.............
Winn with 2 hits and 2 RBI's..................
Pages with a sac fly , 2 runs scored.......good game big guy..........
Burleson with another HR............Burly is a professional hitter.......stings the ball almost every AB............

day off tomorrow , then the Pirates arrive in town for a series starting Tuesday with their big rookie , Skenes starting.........

LET'S GO CARDINALS...........

I like great defense also......Arenado with the DP lineout and tagging 3rd and now the bunt play catching the runner at 3rd has been awesome......no errors so far is also great......

Great pitching, some eye popping defensive plays were highlights. A Ryan Helsley meltdown in the 9th was not. And of course more anemic offense.

I typically find Bernie's comments interesting. I read his posts very often.
My post is abbreviated. For the full story

Bernie’s Redbird Review

As they open a three-game series against the Pirates on Monday evening at Busch Stadium, the Cardinals are down in home attendance so far in 2024.

The franchise currently ranks sixth in the majors with an average of 37,076 fans per game at Busch. That accounts for tickets sold, but the number of no shows appears to be up, with fans opting to stay away from the ballpark instead of using their purchased tickets.

Theories:
1. Losing has reduced the enthusiasm
2. Ownership isn’t fully committed to winning
3. John Mozeliak fatigue
4. Terribly poor messaging
5. Nothing personal, but so far this is a pretty boring team that’s low on charisma
6. The Cardinals have a below-average offense. I’m being kind in that assessment. It’s a bad offense
7. Speaking of the annoying outfield carousel
8. The wasting of the Goldschmidt-Arenado years
9. That’s another problem. The Cardinals have run out of legend-class stars
10. This is hardly a scientific finding, but fans really seem to dislike manager OIi Marmol
Finally, there’s a non-baseball reason-
"Fans concerned about their safety."

please allow me to repeat something: the Cardinals still rank sixth in home attendance, so this is hardly a disaster. But there’s an obvious loss of confidence in ownership-management and the direction of the franchise, so the decrease in support is predictable.

Read his full commentary on the website.

This could all be wrong. The Front Office might be committed to winning. It simply does not appear as if they are.
They have tried to make trades. Not many of them have worked out.
They have brought in FA pitching. Again it has not worked out. If it is not Mo's fault it is the fault of his scouting department, which means, IT'S HIS FAULT for not having the right people.
Poor messaging is a huge factor. The message that has been given to fans year after year is they want to win 90 games, make the playoffs and see what happens. So to speak.
Loading up with high priced FAs isn't necessarily the answer but nickel and diming for years doesn't give fans warm and fuzzy feelings. They should accept that is human nature instead instead of implying that only fairweather fans complain.
It's not that I dislike Oli. It's simply that I dislike the Cardinals getting managers that are learning on the job. If it is the younger guys who are the ones that are willing to go with the newer analytics then find someone that has some kind of a track record of success.
I simply don't see the downtown St Louis area safety as a factor at all. If the Cardinals had an exciting team that was on pace to win 100 games the stadium and Ball Park Village would be overflowing with fans.
