Please take my tough comments light heartedly. I love this board and all that dwell here.
But. We need to toughen up about the late start time, the Thursday start time, could be 8:30 kind of talk.
Our guys are playing tonight. They could play at 1am and Id be tuned in. First game we get to see that beautiful orange and blue. Our first glimpse of how the depth chart is going to work. Im jacked. LFG, It's OK to be tired in your cubicles and offices.
What are you even talking about?

I get this way about 24 hours before opening kickoff

I'm only looking for two things tonight.........

Time to show up from the start of the game and whip EIU with ease. Haven't won a game by double digits since November 26, 2022 at Northwestern or even a home double digit win since October 15, 2022 vs Minnesota.

Hoping Aidan Laughery stays healthy this season. Awesome young man who is electric in open space

Why did you send me a message rather than replying here?

No one is crying about anything, as you claimed in your message. You're choosing to create a story in your mind, for some strange reason.

I don't think this game will be a cakewalk although I think we will win. I think it's more important what we learn about our team and personnel rather than the margin of victory. Go Illini.

Side note, but I really wish we could have fixed up the pressbox without eliminating the ENTIRE upper deck of the west side. While we desperately needed that renovation, it looks like they tried to keep the height of each side symmetrical rather than the look. I think Memorial Stadium really suffered by losing that symmetry on both sides with the balconies:

EDIT: Also fun and random fact. I recall someone once saying that Memorial Stadium used to have the most seats between the end zones in all of college football (obviously pre-2007 renovation). According to Wikipedia, the east side (East Main and East Balcony) has about 28,000 seats, meaning that there 56,000 seats between the end zones in the old Memorial Stadium. So, if you extrapolated that all the way around our stadium and made Memorial Stadium into a "square bowl," our capacity would be between 85,000 and 90,000.

In a different universe where we became a powerhouse and filled in the end zones to match East Main and West Main and had the same column architecture all the way around the stadium? Man, I would struggle to think of more iconic venues in the sport. I guy can dream!

I didn't realize it was a late start. I might have driven down from Chicago, but, alas, I now have other plans. However, anyone else in Chicago could leave now with enough time to spare for a cocktail or two before kickoff.

Also, if you are a student there really is no excuse for missing the game on a perfect warm late summer night. A Thursday night was essentially the weekend when I was on campus in the late '80's, and, what is it, like the 4th day of classes before a holiday weekend? We'd have finished our last class and immediately made our way the the tailgate.

If it isn't, that's a problem...

Not all that sure your definition of "cakewalk", but if it's a close game into the 4th QTR, or nip and tuck through and through...that's a problem.
