KJ flirts with a triple double.
Deron was the third leading scorer on the 2005 team. I like to see KJ utilize all the offensive talent on this team and not be drawn into numerous 2v2 (high pick and roll). Use that as one of many tools.KJ flirts with a triple double.

I’m hoping for DGL… again. But with the chance it’s real this year.I'm looking forward to the yearly Illini "guy who won't get regular conference minutes puts in 25 on opening night and gets an unreasonable amount of hype".
My post was largely in jest overall, but I do honestly get the vibe that when Adam Miller pulled this off his freshman year and then wasn't the featured guard the rest of the year, that's why his camp was so dead set on leaving. Similarly with DGL last year, there were members of his camp urging him to transfer because he did a thing against Eastern Illinois and then Illinois somehow held him back the rest of the year with zero contextual perceptionI’m hoping for DGL… again. But with the chance it’s real this year.
My initial thought honestly was that you were talking about Eastern. Seems we lose one every year because some bench scrub puts up 25 points (not that I'm expecting that this week).I'm looking forward to the yearly Illini "guy who won't get regular conference minutes puts in 25 on opening night and gets an unreasonable amount of hype".

He’s about to assault that triple double.Hopefully it’s James Bond flirting and not Pepe Le Pew flirting!
Fellow proud EIU alum here as well. BA '09, MA '11. Was also there for homecoming last month and have gone there basically every non-covid related season since I moved back to Illinois. I've taken a wait and see approach with the basketball program though, mostly due to a lot of the bad basketball I've had to see them play over the years.Want to start off by saying this...proud to say I am an EIU alum, class of 2014. I'm the only member in my family to graduate with a college degree, as my folks didn't go to college. EIU was great to me and still is a great school that I tell our students about (I'm employed at a community college). I was there for their Homecoming last month and always enjoy going to Charleston when I have the opportunity.
As for the game...I am interested in seeing how Illinois plays on the defensive end. Defense has got to improve. EIU returns 7 players from last year's roster that accounts for 41% of their scoring and 43% of their rebounding.
Some things of note...Nate Michael (son of Tom Michael) is an assistant under Coach Marty "The Mule" Simmons. I remember Nate going off on Illinois in a game years ago by hitting several treys when he played at McKendree. I know some on this board were impressed with Nate's shooting touch. Rich McBride is still on Simmons staff. Lastly, Sekou Kalle of EIU was teammates with Big Ben Humrichous at Evansville.
Brads comments are very concerning. Could mean a few things they like each other too much. Very passive in nature. Or they just don’t care enough on the competitive end.
The lighter floor stain is nice but it's disappointing they replaced the entire court but left the unnecessary State of Illinois stained outline around the Block I. The most impactful/nicest courts and arenas on TV are the least cluttered. Between the weird Illinois outline, the big green Libman posters under the baskets that other schools don't have and the clashing RED State Farm logo, our court is just too busy and corporate compromised.
Who approved of that anyway? The State Farm logo on the court floor should be white, blue or orange. Period. The State Farm Center sign above the main entrance is white. State Farm changed their logo color for several of the Blue Blood arenas (Look above the baskets), we shouldn't compromise our school colors for corporate sponsorship either.
No one has a clue what his comments mean. I'm convinced that everything he says is solely for the purpose of shaping his team. Trying to discern the truth behind his statements is a fool's game.Brads comments are very concerning. Could mean a few things they like each other too much. Very passive in nature. Maybe this will change when the games matter. But if they don’t have a competitive edge to them we will be a .500 conference team and NCAA bubble.
Time to mentally prepare to get treated by our non-conference foes and Brad going full UNDERWOOD on the side lines.
.... errand my friend, errand. I think Underwood knows his players, and will say things in a way that he feels will motivate them. Us fans don't need to understand those comments, we just have to accept that BU knows what he is doing. No one has a clue what his comments mean.
