not football , but I remember a basketball game where the Illini wore orange jersey's and wisky wore red jersey's......it was a color confusion and hard to watch.........it really really was....................
In person it wasn’t an issue — the colors were distinct enough. But when I got home and saw the replay on TV… yeah, it was bad. The contrast didn’t translate through the technology of the day.

if we execute and keep them guessing (I think we will), we're good for at least 24 points, conservatively. love what I'm seeing with the O (and it's getting better).

good stuff from the D too.

the extra day should help. fully believe we're gonna be ready. love playing "powerhouses" that have yet to be tested

Always thought it odd Penn State having a "white out" when it's the visiting team that wears white in CFB.
This is the alternative if they didn't go white

PSU -17.5
GIVE ME THAT ALL DAY!!! We are averaging 30 points a game right now.. say we only score 17... that means PSU would have to score 35... so a final score of 35 - 17... After last week.. Just don't think that blow the doors open. I see up losing by 10 at worst... UNLESS... We have the worst kind of game possible ( tim beck type game )

The Smart People said Kansas would beat Illinois easily. Illinois won. The same Smart People said Illinois didn’t stand a chance against Nebraska. Illinois beat Nebraska.

The very same Smart People are now saying Penn State by 18.

The only two games I traditionally see both teams in colored jerseys are Georgia-Florida (neutral site game) and USC-UCLA (crosstown game). Some non-playoff bowl games also do this.

The only game I could see Illinois wearing orange if the other team wears dark is the Northwestern game.

But, if the home team wants to wear white, they just need the visitor’s blessing. If that means Illinois can go all-orange under the lights, I could see them saying OK.
A couple comments:

1. I am not sure if PSU has ever worn white at home for these white out games, and this isn't even their actual white out game (that is vs. Washington). So, I think we will absolutely 100% be in white jerseys ... let's just hope we don't wear white pants with those and wear the orange that looked so good in Lincoln or, even better, #BPOTR!

2. I have long had this feeling that Northwestern will wear their black "Gothic" uniforms for the Wrigley game. If so, I hope they would give us their blessing to wear orange to create a cool contrast for a neutral site game in a city that matters a lot to both of us.

3. I have never thought about this, but seeing the Georgia/Florida and USC/UCLA examples mentioned ... why don't we do this for Braggin' Rights?? Let Mizzou wear black or gold every single year, and we will wear orange or navy every single year. The "home team" gets to pick which one they want, and the other team needs to pick a color that won't clash too much (i.e., no navy and black). I know we have seen it in Braggin' Rights in the past, but it is not every year.

Preach! I know the transitive property should not be used too liberally in sports, but I have nothing from PSU that convinces me they are a league above Nebraska. Are we underdogs for a good reason and will it be really tough to pull out the W? Sure. However, we will not be intimidated by the atmosphere (it was rockin' in Lincoln), and PSU's marquee win so far (WVU) was lucky to get past KU at home. I think we can hang with them if we play well and minimize mistakes!

And if you are hanging with a team into the fourth quarter ... anything can happen. I know we keep saying each week is so huge for the program, but ... it's true. In 2022 when we were ranked, we had not beaten a single ranked team. When we last played in a top 25 matchup like last Friday in 2008, we had already stubbed our toe earlier in the year. In 2007, our loss to Iowa knocked us off of most people's radars until we upset OSU. I would argue we are currently in "program respect" territory that we have not been in since 2001 ... win Saturday, and what game left on the schedule "scares" us? None should. Doesn't mean we will win out (obviously), but WOW would it send an even louder statement than we already have!

This makes me want to see the "We Back" gif...

I seem to have heard that our guys take energy out of “hostile” environments. And seriously, what is the crowd going to do, other than perhaps throw snowballs? And there won’t be snow in State College on Saturday.

It's difficult to have a more favorable setup for this tough road game in front of 107k at night than having knocked off NEB in front of a frenzied 85k at night and enjoyed an extra day of rest and prep. The boys seemed loose and focused all evening Friday, and I don't believe adding another 20k fans is going to change that. Need to have a solid start to quiet the crowd, keep penalties minimal again, force Drew Allar to make a mistake or three, eliminate the TOs, and we should be in this to the end.

To my eyes, we looked dramatically better v. NEB than we had against Kansas. Keep chopping wood, stay focused consistent. Good things can and will happen.
