With the 5th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select Ron Holland II, F, G League Ignite.
Yeah, I'm being serious here. The NBA is a star-driven league. It's no coincidence that the two lowest rated Finals outside the 2020s involve the notoriously boring San Antonio Spurs.Serious question. Do you watch the NBA at all or are you just in here to troll?

France is going to be a problem in the Olympic Games this summer. In men's basketball I mean. With the 6th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Charlotte Hornets select Tidjane Salaun, F, France.

He's on his way to Minnesota. With the 8th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs select Rob Dillingham, G, Kentucky.
So, as a guy who really doesn’t watch the NbA, what’s the deal with all the French guys? Is the product NCAA basketball is putting out that poor?
traded to MinneapolisWith the 8th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs select Rob Dillingham, G, Kentucky.
I always found it interesting that in the NFL, the picks are traded before they announce the player drafted, where in the NBA they announce the players, THEN trade the picks. Makes it a bit more chaotic.
Met with a chorus of boos LOLWith the 9th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies select Zach Edey, C, Purdue.
I suppose it’s all in what you are looking for. I think a lot of folks enjoy the college game as the players develop and gain skills, grow-up. Can’t say I watch a lot of European basketball to know the appeal, but they seem to produce a lot of talent.Honestly, the college game isn't great for the most part. The European players are playing against a lot better talent on a nightly basis and in today's NBA, they'll find the best players, no matter where they are.
The league has an issue where the talent and what the casual NBA audience wants are misaligned. Victor Wembanyama is insanely (star-level) talented, and that improves his team's local audience, but nationally I don't think he'd draw viewers, like the great Spurs that came before him. Serious fans can enjoy talent for talent's sake, but the real money is from casuals who need personalities and storylines, and seeing players rise in college first is an easy booster. What does that have to do with Victor Wembanyama?
Unless you're calling him a star, which is not obvious at all.
