Illinois vs Michigan, Saturday, October 19th, 2:30pm CT, CBS

Ugh stats weren't updated. Originally I said Tuttle hasn't played a snap but he has played some. About the same amount as Browne prior to the game last week overall.

I'm not optimistic.
He has also been in college football for 70 years. There will be some other tape on him.

Been watching the line move in Michigan's favor, so I guess the traditional powerhouse is gaining momentum.

Since I don't expect us to win in Oregon, THIS is the game that really matters and gives a shot at turning the corner. With a win this weekend, we can instantly be ranked in the Top 15 and be in the discussion for the CFP. A loss, however, probably drops us out of the Top 25. The last two games (PSU and Purdue) have significantly impacted my confidence in this team. But if we can pull off a victory against the Wolverines ----- the trip out West could be really, really fun, playing with house money!!!

24 Michigan
16 ILLINI

(5-1 against the spread. 6-0 in predicting the winner.)

Exactly. Until Sunday this is the only game that matters. Win it and we’re on a great long term path regardless of what happens in Oregon. Oregon is the least consequential game on our schedule.

I have the feeling that the game day atmosphere will generate a buzz that carries over into the stadium, with our fans energizing the team and vice versa. There should be a great desire to win this game and an all out effort to do so. The intangibles should all be in our favor.

A win Saturday makes me pretty optimistic that 9-3 is very attainable. A loss at Oregon, and then any other game on the schedule is winnable. At Rutgers would probably be the most challenging game remaining on the schedule outside of at Oregon.

I was at the Louisville vs Illini in 1997. It was a terrible game. That was the only game Louisville won that year. Hope we never see that again in Illinois. We will beat Michigan. The linebackers have to have a great game.

i was thinking the two biggest factors in this game would be the availability of xavier scott and will johnson.

sounds like our man can go.

does anyone know about johnson? he's good enough to completely take away pat bryant, our outlook improves substantially with him out

As a Bears fan. This and the Army game against ECU are the only games that really interest me since the Bears are on a bye. Maybe check my fantasy teams a bit but nothing worth watching pro-wise.

I really really want to win this game to help relieve some of the bitter taste's in my mouth from all the losses of the past to the scUM horde of cheaters and liars...............we have had a lot of close games where unfavorable ref decisions has cost us some games and loss of recognition against the powers in the B$G , but it seems to me and my fuzzy memory banks that more losses to the scUMsuckers than other teams.............

we are getting scUM this year with them having a more limited offensive performance or a lack of a robust passing game...............I will be very interested in the first couple of offensive drives by scUM and what defensive schemes our defense plays............

crowding the line of scrimmage seems appropriate for scUM's abilities as they should be a 70 % run versus 30 % pass type of game and I sure hope there has been adjustments made in our defensive scheme's for this game to include more blitz's and stuffing the run at the point of attack................

I haven't researched the scUM defense , but I would expect for Luke and the offense to be able to put up enough points to think we can win this game if the defense improves their play from last week and shut's down scUM's rushing attack for the win...................

Therefore I will predict ........................

Illini 31
scUM 20

I hope to be dancing after this victory..........................I really really do..........................

It's the slime oozing out of your TV set...........................scUM slime , that is ........................

All the predictions I have seen so far have been mixed bag and with the line being close that’s usually a sign it’s going to be a close one but you never know in college football. Momentum can shift either way.

Packers-Texans? Lions-Vikings? Super bowl rematch Chiefs-Niners?

Despite your solid record Deon, I think the cassette tapes come out for you this week. Illini with the win against UM.

I predict some frustrating aspects (possibly something like their qb all of a sudden looking like an all American, or difficulty against the run) but not enough that won’t be overcome. Passing game for Illinois should open it up for McCray and valentine to break a few. Valentine (or laughery) will channel some Rocky Harvey echoes.

Illini 31, UM 29

I'll see you that year and raise you my senior year of 1997. 0-11.

(The fact that there can even be a legitimate debate about "worst year in Illini football history) when there was an 0-11 season is sad in and of itself . . .)
Lot of arguments for worst year. 0-11 is bad, but did you have expectations? My senior year of 1995, we were ranked to start the year and had the #2 and #3 draft pick on our defense (Rice and Hardy). We proceeded to go 5-5-1 with a 3-3 tie in the last game to miss a bowl game. Last tie in college football as the added overtime the following year.
