I'm guessing it's because the rededication game is near our typical homecoming game time. It makes sense that they'd want the rededication to stand out on its own instead of get wrapped up in homecoming.
It's that or they wanted to ensure a win, but that's never been a concern in the past for us
Should make another great fall weekend before two weeks on the road. Fills the stadium too, something easier to do vs conference opponents. Scheduling teachers and H.S. bands last night was similarly brilliant. Pack the place and create both an attendance and vocal crowd habit/momentum. The student section was really rocking last night! They’re more inclined to do that for a sellout too.

Last year I noticed that I couldn’t start from the beginning while the game was live. If it was still going on, it automatically made me join the game already in progress. So make sure the game is actually over if you want to watch from the start.
