Yes, with that look an OF account would bring in the NIL

It's surprising to some that they are seriously considering taking 2025 guard Keaton Wagler.
It's not surprising to me. I trust the staff's evaluation of Keaton Wagler. Sounds like he's continuing to develop. He's an excellent shooter, including from distance, yet he also plays a well-rounded game. You can never have too many quality shooters like Wagler on your roster.

not to me, FWLIW. same goes for Lee, Ahrens, the Utah kid and Jakstys
And I agree on Lee and Ahrens. They are also definite takes in my opinion (FWLIW), but more importantly, the opinion of the staff. With 15 scholarships moving forward, I think that adding Lee/Ahrens/Wagler would make for an excellent 2025 (high school) recruiting class.

As I read the new rules (IANAL), there is a roster limit of 15 slots. Any or all of the roster members can be on scholarship. Walk-ons count toward the roster limit. This is to prevent people from "walking on" and being paid via NIL.

Question: Should one try and fill the 15 slots with projects, or keep 2-4 for pure walkons (no scholarship)?

If a typical rotation for a game is 8 players, and say 10 players overall depending on matchups and injuries, that leaves 5 players who are not hitting the floor outside of garbage time. So, how many 'projects' does on fund? Taking on 3 more projects is 180-300k**. That is 180-300k not spent on assistant salaries. What are the odds the players will both make the grade, and stay? How many projects at a time are worth the bet?

** UIUC says the expected cost for a freshman is 40k/yr (instate), and 60k/yr (out of state). That doesn't include any team specific costs (uniforms, travel to games, bigger meal costs, ...). NIL is an entirely different matter.

It'd be a bit insane for a program that generates ~14M in yearly profit for the University to try and nickle and dime talent.

There's tons of folks drafted every year that weren't top 100 recruits, taking a flyer on some kids isn't bad.

should be pinned. the only thing I'd add/change is that taking a flyer on some kids (3-5) is the smart play. especially preps
