not trying to sound pessimestic after such a great 2024 class. truly, honestly like where we are in the recruiting landscape currently. But it doesn't nessecerily make it feel great when we literally got multiple articles and sources claiming guys will visit and then they don't.

This is not a new trend. There is a difference between a report saying that someone is going to visit and a visit being cancelled last minute. Very few of these "experts" really know what is going on and even if they do know, they are only releasing information that the player is, for lack of a better term, allowing them to release. Time to just sit back enjoy what the staff has accomplished and be hopeful for the future.

this should be pinned. I'd add that not all "experts" bring equal value. some let their homer-ism creep in and routinely give rosier forecasts than are warranted

Ahrens and Lee would be nice fall signees. KJ and Riley might be one and done. Humrichous will graduate and we will probably lose 3 to portal so we will need to bring in 5-6 new players. 3 HS and 3 portal would work.

Noticing that we're not really in the running for too many of the top 2025 high school guys. Could it be that we're looking to save NIL to keep players on our current roster aboard and/or compete for top transfers next summer?

the whole strategy of recruiting has dramatically changed these past 2-3 years
not sure how your "average" low 5* or high 4* prep player fits in, unless its a specific position need

Yeah, Will Riley is a 5 star that might come off the bench and Morez was a top 30ish recruit that is probably looking at 15-20 mins a game as a freshman.

DGL was a fringe top 100 recruit and hardly played.

Riley is not coming off the bench. If we ever want to get another 5 star then he starts. Not a good luck to finally get a 5 star and not start him.
