It makes a pretty darn good Old Fashioned! WT101 is my go-to though for making decent OF's on a budget.

Appreciate the love but Weber desperately tried to appease IL coaches and failed. Groce too.

Underwood built a national program mostly with out of state kids & 1-2 transfers back in.

The narrative that their success is driven by trying harder in state is silly. Outside of Ayo, only Ty and Miller have scored more than 6 ppg.

TJ says hello … 👀

Also … I know DMFW didn’t average 6 PPG … But that kid was an absolute warrior and doesn’t get nearly enough credit for what he brought to the table …

It sounds like we are in for a whole week of IL hand-wringing. I suppose it's good timing, then, that I am out of town this week for a bunch of meetings where I will have limited access to my phone and email.

I didn't listen to the interview in it's entirety, but in that clip, there is no suggestion whatsoever that recruiting Illinois players has led to the team's current success. I don't think anyone would argue that. Tai simply stated that Brad has done a better job at recruiting Illinois and that kids know it's OK to go to Illinois. Enter Ayo, Ty, DMW, TJ, Boswell, Morez, Jakstys, and one Jeremiah Fears.

Boswell
Kasparas
Riley
Humrichous
Isvisic

Now THAT is a squad. O/u on the number of guys who sign an NBA contract who are currently signed? I’ll go 5.5….
I don't think you can keep Ty Rodgers out of the starting lineup. I think Kasparas comes off the bench and Ty starts. At least at the beginning of the year. KJ will be a freshman. We already have two kids starting (Isvisic, Riley) that have never played college basketball.

1. Riley hasn't committed to us. Yeah, the weather forecast looks good, but it's the weather...plenty of variation there.

2. If Riley does commit to us, I would fully expect this team to go through some growing pains during the upcoming season. In that situation, we'd have an unreal amount of talent, skill level, and potential, but the key pieces would still be very young and inexperienced. I hope fans would be able to temper their expectation and be patient as this team grows into its potential.

When you have a roster that has 5 guys who will be future pros… the likelihood that you’ll be good just based on talent is pretty high. You factor in a lead guard who has been a starter on top 10 teams already, workhorses like Ty, Morez & DGL, along with just the pure talent & size…. With Brad as their coach? Cmon… I think the program is at a point under Brad that he is going to win us a lot of games… go Illini.

After 2 years ago thinking incoming talent, NIL success and a Sky led offense was a game changer...

And then relishing last year with no name veteran transfers and unbelievable chemistry.....

I say now,... to win championships you need talent but you MUST have chemistry too.

I agree, Ty brings so much to the floor. OK he has not been our offensive go to guy, but great team will only have 1 or 2 of these guys with a group of team players. Folks thinking all these kids are going to the NBA is a bit silly too, their game will determine that. We've had 2 NBA players over the past few years. Morez is the guy that has the best shot at the NBA, he gets nothing but better. There is a few others that can can prove it with their game, and that is an awesome luxury to have.

My favorite thing about our program today is those who earn playing time will get it, and we'll play 7-10 guys depending on who earns the time on the floor.

Will this team play defense like prior BU teams?
They will struggle staying in front of really quick teams due to their size. Defense is mostly about attitude. Brad has done as good a job managing attitude as any coach I’ve seen with maybe Sampson at Houston being slightly more impressive. Also scoring efficiency (points per possession) is the most important stat in basketball today and that roster will be very efficient (along with the bench).

It seems like we overlook Tre White. I'd like a starting lineup that includes him as well as Humrichous and Boswell. Gives us talent (obviously) as well as solid experience at high level college ball. Add in Kasparas and Ivisic and that is some quality lineup. And plenty of minutes for Morez, DGL and Rodgers for sure.

I think with Ivisic at 5, we will be more able to do what Brad has shown his preference to be. Guard 5s one on one and make them eat, while shutting down good shooters and guard/wings.

There should be major improvement in the efficiency of this defensive gameplan, because as much as Coleman fought, he was undersized to play bigs one on one. Ivisic is not.

If that is the base, the other 4 have to be locked in on the scout, and our defense will be ok. We should still be around/over 1.1ppp offensively with this group (but without the potential to straight up out score good power conference opponents without defending them), so hopefully it our offensive prowess can make other teams press offensively, which also helps defense.

Brad may shock everyone and have a bit of a match up zone in his bag for this season - with that kind of size and length.
