Looks like SMU and Kansas State are schools to watch... Odd pair of schools haha

Wouldn't rule out ...

I really just used the GIF because Geoff said what I wanted to write out in response to DB ...
fair enough...clearly my minor in GIF-iology is not paying off. In general, we are feeling good about both WR and KC then or anything more specific that can be shared?

Something to keep in mind when it comes to expectations as we discuss Riley and Catchings:

I agree with this 100%

There have been a couple of comments that adding Riley would take this from being a decent tournament team to a second weekend team. That's excitement of adding a great prospect versus the reality of what the prospect's impact will be. It's overvaluing the impact that a freshman(a reclass on top of it) will have.

The reality is that a kid who obviously needs more physical strength, as well as full development as a player, may not bring as much to the table as a guy like Tre.

Does it move the needle from a depth standpoint? Absolutely. Does he bring a guaranteed 15/10 to the rotation? That's unlikely.

This is the problem that these(all) coaches have when going the prep route and those that aren't adapting(Izzo) have learned the hard way. All I heard last year was that MSU had a 5 star this and a 5 star that, but when push came to shove, it was the teams with "old guys" that were standing at the end.

Nothing is done until the player signs an LOI and shows up on campus eligible and healthy.
I'm not sure it's even done at that point anymore. At least one report said Catchings was already on campus at Purdue. And it sure seems like Sincere had decided to transfer out not long after he got on campus this year.

Man, I'm gonna feel bad for him if CoHawk goes from competing for B1G championships yearly to finishing his career at SMU or Memphis.
His bank account going to the next level should ease your pain. He wants to get the most he can and bless him for it. There are no guarantees for these guys after college. Get paid and be the focal point on that team at the same time.

Why get 750K and be the 3rd option, when you can get 1.5M and be option #1? I don't know if those are the amounts, but you get the point.

Riley raises the ceiling. Not necessarily the floor. But the floor is pretty high because if Riley isn’t great, Tre or Ty or Davis or KJ or Booth might be

Agreed - we have a lot of guys that will play a lot of minutes that need to adjust to the college game - Ivisic, KJ, Morez, Riley (if he comes)
Maybe more than any other season since '19-'20 we will be a lot better team come March than we will be in Nov.

However, when looking at 5 stars and their impact as a freshman, I think you have to look at what you are asking them to do and what skills take longer to develop - I think Cam Christie (who wasn't even close to a 5 star) is a good comp for Riley - can get his shot off, really good shooter, those skills translate immediately, Cam averaged 11points 3.6 rbs and shot 39% from 3- I don't think that would be an unreasonable expectation for Riley to meet or exceed that

Seems odd. I feel like Brad tried really hard to not play Hawkins / Dainja together much this past year.
Certainly offense and defense schemes played a large part, but also they were our only bigs so playing them together probably didn’t make a lot of sense rotationally. No idea what Penny runs down there, but I don’t think there is any reason they couldn’t play together in right scheme. And since CoHawk presumably doesn’t want to play center and isn’t much of a low post player, could certainly see them playing together.

Interesting that we don't have an obvious 15+ ppg player on this roster (whether we get Riley or Catchings or neither).
