This kid is pretty skilled. Interesting.

Fit well with Johnson, Dain, and Hansbury. Awesome front court and Ty and Sencire at guards. Don’t need to shoot well with that rebounding.

Why would he not be interested??
Seems like we would go from Top 30 ish to Top 15-20 with him.
Right now, our only point guard options are a guy whose skillset isn't at all compatible with the position and a freshman who's decision making and ball management at a level far lower than B1G level last year wasn't the best. The only reason to not be interested in adding a guy like this who would complete our team and make us truly competitive for a B1G Title: abject foolishness.

Lots of IFs!!

IF it turns out... IF we scuffle badly... IF it is due to poor generalship... IF we waste final years and IF it is due to mediocre performances on the court...

THEN you can IMAGINE... HEAVILY... question WHETHER ...

SPECULATE MUCH??? Such hand-wringing! Several weeks ago, we were DOOMED because some guard from an inferior conference went elsewhere. The season was lost...coach is on a hot seat! Now we think that Kerr is the linch-pin to a successful season

How about this??? Maybe Kerr doesn't even enter the portal!

There are tons of fish in the sea!!!!

My take on the situation? If we "lose" a specific recruit, our position should be "NEXT!!!!" I trust the coach to field a well-balanced team made up of players who fit our scheme.

If we don't go after THIS one, or THAT one, we'll go after the OTHER one.

Relax! Take a DEEP breath! We will be FINE!
Even without a good PG we'll be "fine" which I would define as a 7-10 seed.

Some of us would like to be better than fine.

This kid is pretty skilled. Interesting.

He does look fairly skilled and fluid for someone that size but the question is really does he move well enough to make up for how slight his frame is? Unless he adds a ton of weight he's not going to be able to hang inside as a 5 so can he move well enough to guard small ball 4s on the perimeter?

It's hard to tell much from highlights but maybe a little reminiscent of someone like Grant Nelson from NDSU. Seems like the type of guy you redshirt as a freshman and let him work with Fletch because I don't see anyway he's ready to play in the big10 as a freshman.

That's probably a fair assessment but I think they have a bit more upside than that.

I think a lineup of Harmon, Shannon, Domask, Rodgers, and Hawkins is vastly superior to any lineup last year. People are vastly underestimating how good Domask and Harmon are. Both are capable of handling the ball and of shooting and Harmon is a tough defender. Throw in a healthy Williams and they might be the best defensive team in the big10 and a 4/5 seed.

Obviously I'd love a true PG and pushing Harmon to a 6th man role but even without that I think they're dangerous and fairly deep.

And I would add - it's "WHEN" we "lose" a recruit. Every school misses on recruits, not just the Beloved. People here seem to feel that if we just show up we win because we are Illinois, forgetting that there is another side to deal with that cares not about anything other than their own goals and objectives.

if they had ratings back in the day, Gill would have been a 3 star. yet another illustration that a kid's HS rating is merely a snapshot and isn't necessarily indicative of what's going to transpire going forward. Spoon may be the best example of this.

Yep, Larry Smith was considered the better get at the time (e.g., Link), and Bardo was touted but a bit of a wildcard given his senior year injury. What a great recruiting class. Three eventual 1st round picks (Nick, Kendall, and KB (via transfer)) plus Bardo, Ervin Small, and a couple of others (Phil Kunz and Jeff Finke).

I do watch the NBA, thanks for that comment. Its completely different than college.

I guess my point was it looked like he didnt care to put the shoe back on or be active in the play by standing in the corner. Also one of our player could have slowed up once they saw he was putting his shoe on and let him get back in the play. If he tried to put his shoe on and get back in the play it wouldnt have been brought up here.
Why didn’t underwood call a TO?

His head is just too big...when he was shopping around before WVU, he was asking for more NIL than we are giving Shannon...

Thinks he's the best PG in the country.

I think everyone thinks they’re worth more than they actually are … 🤷🏻‍♂️

We can afford what he would want … We pay Brad millions to coach the team, get them to gel … Him saying no I don’t want to deal with Kerr isn’t an excuse … We’ve got guys on this current team that are more of a headache than Kerr … Sean didn’t have a problem with him … 🤷🏻‍♂️ … My opinion, Brad needs to suck it up and figure it out …

Come Big Ten play … If we have no PG play again … Many important people to this program will NOT be happy …

I just expect us to be able to recruit at a higher level by now than taking fliers on in state kids like this. Maybe I'm missing something.

The question is would you rather have a person with an ego like that who his prior coach and teammates didn't seem to have any issues getting along with as your PG, or would you rather go with a kid who is coming off an Achilles injury and likely won't be 100% when season starts and a sophomore natural forward who you're trying to teach to play point?

Unless there's a belief that Kerr is a cancer who will disrupt team chemistry, of which there's no report of, or that he's a bad fit for the offensive and defensive sets you're trying to run, I'm not sure how in our current situation we can be so picky to pass up on what seems to be our last chance at an actual P5 PG.

exactly. the whole thing screams disfunction. no timeout needed, but when we get the ball, you pull it out top while Mayer gets his shoe on.

That's what we were last year.
What got my was when Mayer tossed the shoe out of the way. It looked like a trying to be cool “I don’t need no shoe” move

Had he left the shoe on the court, wouldn’t the refs have had to stop play at change of possession (as long as Arkansas didn’t have advantage) bc of potential injury risk?
