Ayo is a great talent and it helps to get him to campus early, especially on a weekend when Lovie Smith made his debut. I am sure emphasis was on turning the program into a winner, which is a good message to reinforce even for basketball.

But just something about that quote, it sounds to me more a response to a prompted question (e.g., what is your level of interest at Illinois) than something that a recruit will spontaneously say. Level of interest low, medium, high sounds very much like a designation on recruiting websites. :)

so what are we thinking the over/under is that we get a commitment from Wilkes before his next visit after us ? I do not know why but I am feeling about 87% I just keep having this Dream that a Bilikin is chasing me into the Hall, and THE CHIEF come out and kills it while wilkes is sitting on press row. he stands up and says well that was cool I'm in

I'll take the over. 88% chance he commits. Tough choice though. This is one that could easily push.

After this weekend I am very happy with the direction Illinois Athletics are trending. Glad to have Ayo on campus for Lovie's first game as the environment looked electric despite playing the cupcake Murray State.

For Wilke's visit i was hoping Groce would bring out all the stops and it sounds like he is planning just that. The UNC game should be rocking and having Tilmon, DWill and Pickett in his ear the whole weekend should be great. If Wilke's decides to part ways with the Illini it wont hurt me as bad knowing we put forth a tremendous effort.

Dream scenario: Illini beat UNC in overtime, Wilke's live tweets a video of him singing "Hail to the Orange, Hail to the Blue" after the win stating that he will be joining "Illinoisssssssssss."

I believe Wilkes is having an "in-home" visits from UCLA and Indiana next week. I think his recruitment may end before the other OV. I believe he has seen UCLA already and has probably visited Indiana multiple times. If he chooses UCLA or Indiana he may do an OV do it as a committed. I don't think this drags into late September or October.

Agreed. Really think his 4th & 5th OVs are longshots. That said, will be very surprised if Wilkes commits to us during his OV. If he's going to commit to us, it'll be after he's home for a day or two.
