The fact it needs a detailed explanation using a foreign language explains why it is still one of the worst logos ever.

French is the sole official language of Quebec.

You know, it could be the bias of it was the look I grew up seeing, but those 2001 highlights really reminded me how much I loved that simple look of the all white numbers. Those jerseys combined with helmet and pant stripes of blue/white/blue (going light/dark/light is much better than having the orange and white next to each other like the current helmet).

So is Best Buy using an image with our old uniform set? Are they using this image for all of their ads or is it super creepy targeted to this Illini fan? Either way, that’s wild.

[huge best buy image]

i'm not convinced those are our jerseys, but i could be wrong.

It's 100% our jerseys. It appears to be punter Anthony Santella holding for Derek Dimke. That would have been mid to late Zook era.
Definitely us! I think the kicker is #13 Jason Reda and the holder is #82 Frank Lenti Jr. I remember seeing this picture on Best Buy's website when I was shopping for a tv years ago.

Ah yes, good call. If it was at Wisconsin, it could only be 2006 or 2008. Santella was 87, but Dimke and Reda had the same number. Interesting image still being used!

I really appreciate y'all doing the leg-work on this one! All the more stunning that Best Buy is promoting ads on Twitter in 2021 from pictures taken in a 2006 Illinois football game!
Those are good looking jerseys! I always liked the all white jersey/pant combo for us in football. I think the orange/blue combo pops on a white canvas.

That uniform set had the right amount of each color, that’s for sure. What bothered me about that set was that we were playing with a 2006 Nike template for like 6 years after the rest of Nike’s schools had moved on. The piping and panels were a phase and that phase was over. You could make a clean and classy permanent set out of those minus the early 2000s piping.

p.s. the poor Arizona cardinals still having that kind of mess of piping and panels now 8 years even beyond when Nike let us ditch them. When will they be let out of uniform purgatory???
