If Hugh is fired, that job could be really attractive for an up-and-coming HC because they have stacked a lot of talent the past two years and you can squint and believe a more competent staff could drastically turn around their fortunes. The bigger question is whether the donors will stick the course. Hugh keeps losing, which means it becomes more expensive to keep their top prep guys + it makes the transfer portal to come really expensive (why should I transfer to a 4-8 Auburn team when 9-3 Alabama is going to give me the same amount of NIL money?). If you're a donor, that's gotta be maddening that what would have cost $250k in June is now going to cost $400k in December. The alternative is firing Hugh might relieve cost pressures but increase the risk of current roster players, that are young and heralded, will enter the portal themselves.

Any update on these two?

Would make for a solid class by our standards

Insiders, do you envision us getting some splashy recruits anytime soon? While I do like what Bret & staff our building here, we desperately need some 4 start level recruits with the speed and athleticism to compete with the mid-high level Big Ten teams. For the sake of the program, we really really need to finish this season with 8 wins.

There's no doubt we need some dudes. The Oregon game was pretty telling (not that I expect we're ever close to #1) and a game like Minny would likely be a W with a stud or 2 out there. Lots of decent depth pieces. Few dudes

in year 4 to get beat like that at the line or scrimmage is bad. Our evals for prep oline have been bad
You would think they could identify lower rated prospects and develop them. Gesky and Kreutz the only ones that have played from prep?? Henderson too.
Seems like the younger ones have more hope with Henderson, Hansen, Stewart. But those are better recruits too.

How’s this years class on the lines? Lower rated? Low total numbers, 3 OL and 2DL?

Gesky and kruetz were lovie recruits. Henderson is the only BB prep recruit that he has brought in that is playing. He’s also a kid that should’ve redshirted last year but had to play out of necessity
