If Hugh is fired, that job could be really attractive for an up-and-coming HC because they have stacked a lot of talent the past two years and you can squint and believe a more competent staff could drastically turn around their fortunes. The bigger question is whether the donors will stick the course. Hugh keeps losing, which means it becomes more expensive to keep their top prep guys + it makes the transfer portal to come really expensive (why should I transfer to a 4-8 Auburn team when 9-3 Alabama is going to give me the same amount of NIL money?). If you're a donor, that's gotta be maddening that what would have cost $250k in June is now going to cost $400k in December. The alternative is firing Hugh might relieve cost pressures but increase the risk of current roster players, that are young and heralded, will enter the portal themselves.
