Illinois Football Recruiting Thread

Let's Flip Wilson
I’m sure it’s more of an issue of secondary importance but I was wondering if Wilson could Pickett.

picking up in-state steam, $ article:
FWLIW, I think Riordan is going to be a good college player. kid is an athlete, nice frame. a larger Kramer? (not saying he's a center)

This is an area that constantly produces talent and Illinois has rarely harvested outside of PWOs. Even if it's 1-2 kids/year then it will start chipping away at an important hotbed for Iowa, Wisconsin, and (gasp) Notre Dame.

My wish list but realistic adds that are on Purdue's commitment list are Grant Beerman (LB) and Landon Brooks (Edge).

We’re working on Beerman … Legendary name … 😎

Bret has really put a priority on recruiting Lakota West in Ohio and other Ohio schools … Smart move … I have some connections to that area and help where I can with connecting HS coaches to our staff … Expect to see us really start to recruit that area hard …

I've thought that Brooks might have been more of a Bullen want and less of a fit to the current personnel desires.

At some point one of these Plan A LBers has to hit. The swing-and-miss streak is partially bad luck, partially poor performance. Getting someone like Beerman or Gaucher (who's now one of the best players to come out of the far west suburbs in a generation) would substantially raise the floor for that unit.

Carson Cooney is another big miss

Jumped on when I saw both those tweets in my feed. Love seeing visits from 4* in general, but especially from a state we’ve had good success and one where we’re trying to gain some momentum.

Obviously a win Saturday would be HUGE for recruiting, but even keeping it competitive would help our efforts in this area.
