Illinois Football Recruiting Thread

Back in the day we lost Chris Redman from Louisville. I believe Tepper let go of Landry as OC. He had a very good career at Louisville.
Not like we ever had to face Redman....

There are plenty of schools with near Auburn money without as many Auburn issues....

I expected this article to be a "he's got an Alabama offer so that door is closed" but it's got a good chunk of Illinois mentions in there.

Possible dumb, game theory take.....

Auburn has been spending big, big NIL bucks in the prep market, and will be spending the same in the upcoming transfer portal. Auburn is also struggling, to the point of making a bowl is trending to unlikely. They are still going to bring in a great class but it's now becoming more expensive to get those players to sign. There's a tax for being a bad program.

The game theory is Alabama can start offering more Auburn commits to trigger a higher tax for Auburn to keep them. I don't know if Auburn is actually interested in Starr, but there's value in making Auburn concerned that Bama is sniffing around. At worst? Auburn is creating more pressure on Hugh because donors are putting a lot on their credit card to max out their roster in '25 and '26. At best? Auburn will have to let some preps go or not pursue certain transfers, requiring them to leave roster holes.
