Lots of Midwest offers going out on this bye week, especially IN and MO. Indiana especially feels like a bigger emphasis now with the staff changes. It's just anecdotal review, but I'm surprised there isn't more MI offers with Parker. The organizational thought has been FL for defensive backs, so it could just be they're keeping those strategies in place.
Has the Lakatos recruitment cooled again? Surprised to see a senior blow-up recruitment get that hot, that late, and then things go radio silent for three weeks again. Iowa State has zip on him since late summer. Maybe more tape came out?
Looking at the 2026 in-state rankings: (1) Please, please do not waste a second really good crop of in-state defensive linemen (Interior d-line rich too!) (2) a friendlier map for skill position guys compared to 2025, (3) Weakest offensive line crop that I can remember - Casey Thomann might be the best by a comfortable margin, and (4) the excellent start this year has (and should) provide the best shot for this staff to get multiple top-10 in-state recruits. Best case scenario would be something like Nasir Rankin, Thomann, and one of Anderson/Sutter - which would be an insane, WTF in-state recruiting class for Illinois that would bring back memories of 2008.
