Has to be a good sign doing it on WCIA, right? Although he does have a couple CB’s for Iowa it looks like.

Most seem to think Iowa but it would be kind of crappy to go on the local station and commit to the Hawkeyes over Illini. If he was going to do that, seems to be far better options for such an announcement

If he's committing to the Hawkeyes maybe one of their coaches suggested the TV bit....or maybe the family are not Illinois fans. Hopefully BB has worked some magic and convinced Laughery to become an Illini. He's a talented kid with jets.

Are all our insiders only basketball? Either this Laughery recruitment is really quiet or it's obviously Iowa.

0440 was our two-way insider. So if we know anyone on the football side that likes to get messy on message boards, point them in this direction. If not, I'll throw out the signal and see if it works.

I have no insider ties and am just an Illinois fan. I have some family that still lives in the same town as this young man. That being said I am fine with waiting until tomorrow to find out what the young man decides. I will never root for Iowa but I want to see Aiden Laughery succeed whatever institution he does decide on.

Have seen him in person and on tape. Aiden is a track and football star that has an engine. Think you could instantly get this guy some touches whether it be on special teams or different formations on offense. He was special in high school......I see him the same way at the collegiate level

I really have no doubt in your evaluation of his talents.

That said, I have seen that EXACT same comment written about 50 other kids the past 25 years, and its only been true 2-3 times. Its one thing to dominate in football or basketball in high school, its a whole 'nother thing to do it in the B1G in games.

If hes as fast as everyone says does he have to play on offense? Can he play db or saftey? Obviously he’d need to buy into it but just curious

I never said he would dominate at the collegiate level. I get the transtion from high school to college is huge.....transition from college to the professional level....etc

Illinois/Iowa or wherever he does decide to go will likely use a stable of running backs. All I know from seeing him play in person is he is dangerous in space. That can be said for a number of guys even at the high school level. He comes from a winning high school pedigree from a town of little over 3,000 people. He has many tools to succeed at the collegiate level.....only time will tell.

Might want to see if he even picks Illinois first.....

Here is Twitter and Hudl links. Only played few games this year in Spring due to Covid.

Yeah not knocking you at all, I get it. He has been listed as ATH for a long time. I think that alone leaves it open for discussion.....plus look at how many times guys change positions even when listed at RB/WR/athletic QB/secondary positions, etc.

Iowa has a pretty good history of white safety’s with the same skill set, so I’d imagine they’re selling him on filling into that Tyler Sash mold

We should assume he's going to Iowa. Haven't see any positive signs (Werner w/ no crystal ball, no positive hints on social media) unless it's going to be a stunner (insert Stone Cold gif).

Robert provided a good breakdown on his podcast for what we were discussing a month ago about 2022 class position balance. There isn't going to be that many more commits in this class. Still a lot of needs on the defensive line and safety. Maybe they want to bring in another OLB/DE? Still a lot of needs at TE (satire).

Could Fedanzo be moved to safety? I know people have mentioned LB.

All signs point to Iowa. However, as quiet as it has been, I’m thinking it’s possible we get a shocker. This is another one of those where if he truly buys into the future, he will choose Illini. I think him and Brown really like the coaches and other commits but maybe not convinced we can turn it around yet.
