Bielema really make a strong push for in state kids. Reoffered Rashad Rochelle as well
Dude is a Packer fan - so at least we know he has good judgement. You can never have too many Hanks on your team. I support this offer.
I rescind my support. Name is probably Henry anyway.Dude is a Packer fan - so at least we know he has good judgement.
So....he's not really 110% committed to Rutgers.....more like 99%?Rashad Rochelle will be an Illini. Not sure how soon but it will happen.
I feel like this quote pretty much sums up how frustrating recruiting 17 year old kid has to be at times “I’m still 110% committed to Rutgers, until I sign my letter of intent it’s still open a little bit depending on who I want it to be open with, so I’m still going to keep all of my options open.”
To be clear I HATE the PackersDude is a Packer fan - so at least we know he has good judgement.
We always like to say this is a "17 year old" problem, but this is pretty much everyone's stance on life.I feel like this quote pretty much sums up how frustrating recruiting 17 year old kid has to be at times “I’m still 110% committed to Rutgers, until I sign my letter of intent it’s still open a little bit depending on who I want it to be open with, so I’m still going to keep all of my options open.”
Illini just offered 2022 WR Hank Beatty from Rochester.
Its not being salty. Its called knowing definitions of words. I guess the word "committed" has been changed in the last 20 years as well. You progressive folks destroy the English language. We always like to say this is a "17 year old" problem, but this is pretty much everyone's stance on life.
I'm always going to be open to other job prospects until I "sign" a contract. I think these kids are being smart. We're just salty because it stings when they back out of our school.
BretFor us to get where we want to be, we have to be a top option (a, not the) for Illinois preps. Not rocket surgery. Bert and company have a daunting task, but at least it appears like in state recruiting is going to be addressed like the high priority it should be ("In-state recruiting" should be expanded a bit, geographically. Pretty good talent within a ~250 mile radius).
FWIW, I'm not advocating dropping recruiting football hotbeds (e.g. FL, TX).
I think Bret --> Bert was an old Badger fan gag.Bret
Well SInce Bret said the offense will look different than it did when he was at Wisconsin that would make sense.Interesting offer. He's 5'11, quick slot WR type. Leonard had him at QB during fall practice. He hasn't played much on the defensive side of the ball in high school, so I'm assuming that will continue if he plays QB his remaining time at Rochester. Usually a kid like this, who's a very good athlete, would be a safety/slotWR in college. But Wisconsin's traditional offense when Bielema was there didn't utilize small slot WRs, they went with big WRs that could block. And given that he won't have much defensive experience coming into college, I have to think the plan is to keep him at slot WR, which would mean our offense will be more spread looking than how Wisconsin was. Bielema should be familiar with Derek Leonard. Garrett Dooley committed to Bielema in 2012, although he never coached him there since he took the Arkansas job.
I'm pretty sure (too lazy to go back) a poster said he does not like people calling him Bert. No reason for us to start...unless he starts losing gamesI think Bret --> Bert was an old Badger fan gag.
I remember the same kind of thing with Bret "Bert" Michaels of Poison fame, but I don't recall the specific origin of that one.
It appears that language, like recruiting, is fluid. Its not being salty. Its called knowing definitions of words. I guess the word "committed" has been changed in the last 20 years as well. You progressive folks destroy the English language.
Thats a heavy corner...better have him play the short side of the field...lolSaw on Twitter that Illini just offered 3* DB from Florida Dontae Fowler. Very nice offer list. Looks like Missouri was recruiting him, so Walters might already have relationship with him. No idea if we have a chance, but based on his size (6-2, 270), overall ranking (740) and offer list, would be a very nice get.
Corrected it.Thats a heavy corner...better have him play the short side of the field...lol
If I remember from the last time that Rochester played in the state championship, the announcers said that Beatty was the #2 ranked WR in his class in the nation. I remember being shocked when I heard that and they commented about the irony that he wouldn't be playing WR next year (2020). Rocket fans, am I remembering correctly?Interesting offer. Danny would be a fat ace get IMO if we can get a commitment early. I remember when the last Chicago lineman we had committed early was really making us think the recruiting was about to take off. Then he decommitted.....Ayodele Adeoye will be an illini very very soon. That’s all I wanted to say. Danny McGuire and Hank Beatty are both heavy leans already as well
