Bro that is a BA edit
Stings? Did we even offer him? That one really stings.
Fleck sure loves massive OLs. Their current tackle from IMG is 6'9. This kid is 6'8.Stings? Did we even offer him?
If we didn't offer a 4* in-state lineman, then that points to other problems I guessStings? Did we even offer him?
I don't believe Illinois offered him. The staff definitely did not recruit him.If we didn't offer a 4* in-state lineman, then that points to other problems I guess
That makes no sense. I much prefer Underwoods style of offering a wide swath of talented players. If nothing else, your name gets mentioned with top talent. I don’t see the downside.I don't believe Illinois offered him. The staff definitely did not recruit him.

But no! I thought it was because our staff hates instate kids and only wants SEC leftovers from Georgia. Also I thought all the coaches from the state wanted us to succeed. Btw this isn’t the only kid this has happened too in the last couple cycles from in the state. The staff at Simeon encouraged Marcus Harper to decommit from Illinois last Spring. This is probably the reason our staff never pursued James.
Encouraging a kid to decommit from Illinois? If this is true then I would say that constitutes some blame thereThe staff at Simeon encouraged Marcus Harper to decommit from Illinois last Spring. This is probably the reason our staff never pursued James.

The staff may not like it, but part of the job when it comes to recruiting is building relationships with HS coaches around the state, especially when you are a bottom feeder like Illinois has become. I don't know the whole story, but if what you are saying is true, the smart thing to do would be to try and improve the relationship rather than ignoring the problem and not recruiting a 4* lineman from your own back yard. Nobody said sucking up to prima donna HS coaches would be fun, but that's part of the job and why we pay you millions of $.The staff at Simeon encouraged Marcus Harper to decommit from Illinois last Spring. A kid using the chief with the slant Illinois logo pretty much sums up our poor branding efforts.
Why?The staff at Simeon encouraged Marcus Harper to decommit from Illinois last Spring. This is probably the reason our staff never pursued James.
Yes....period!Wasn't he a transfer? You think the coach had that much pull over a transfer?
Yea great plan waste time and resources pursuing the unattainable when the angry mob of Illinios Loyalty members are on your tail with pitch forks and torches because your not landing enough recruits already....sounds like a sound plan. The staff may not like it, but part of the job when it comes to recruiting is building relationships with HS coaches around the state, especially when you are a bottom feeder like Illinois has become. It’s obvious you haven’t dealt with a kid and recruitment. I am responding because this is how rumors become law. 90% of the time the family is behind the final decision. 100% of the time the recruit won’t be honest about why a decision was made. Often time Coaches shoulder the blame because they aren’t afraid to take it. No transfer will ever give the new coach that much power. I’ve dealt with 100’s of recruits and I have never seen this happen. Ever!Yes....period!
Have we won any recruiting battles against Minnesota the last few years?I don't believe Illinois offered him. The staff definitely did not recruit him.
Sorry, but an inability to even offer a 4* player 2 hours from campus is pretty inexplicable.Yea great plan waste time and resources pursuing the unattainable when the angry mob of Illinios Loyalty members are on your tail with pitch forks and torches because your not landing enough recruits already....sounds like a sound plan.
What @FT35 said it 100% correct. Why waste our time when the high school staff would undermine us regardless. Also that kid isn’t a 4*, watch his film. He’s ranked purely on size and potential.Sorry, but an inability to even offer a 4* player 2 hours from campus is pretty inexplicable.
@Positive illini fan & @thunderwear - you both had referenced (maybe a week or so ago) the staff having 7-8 commits, any word on when those remaining name(s) might go public?
