Jalon Daniels and Luke Grimm should think twice before trash talking to the fans. It was a nice catch for a TD and all but just sayin…😉
Yeah, that was weird. They were so amped up to have barely taken the lead against an unranked team early in the game.

Great win. Lunney is not a P2 coordinator. We have more talent on both sides of the ball than we’ve had in the past. A Henry defense seems to be good at developing players but bad at play calling.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more confused about the seasons prospects after a win than I am now.
Lunney waited way too long to throw more downfield than he did in first 40 mins of game

we all want a smash mouth running game , but we ran on every first down , then again on 2nd & 8, and then way too much on 3rd & 4. need to throw more on play action

yep. it seemed like we were sticking with the "if stuff's not working, let's keep doing it" playbook. so frustrating. especially, when we have a good receiver corps and an accurate QB. WTH?

Agreed. We weren’t getting the ball to our best players. We weren’t wearing them down with our RB depth. Imo the 4th quarter adjustments should’ve happened in 3rd or 4th drive.

Loved the Illini energy today. The tailgating was fantastic. It was an incredible atmosphere, reminding me of the tailgating we did back in the 80's. Wish every game was an afternoon or evening start. Impressed with the stadium logistics today. Things seemed pretty smooth with entry and concessions, at least on the West side.

Other than our Punt Return issues, I'm very excited about this team. Our secondary looks impressive, especially the Scott boys, and we gotta love Zakhari & Pat Bryant.

Let's Go!!

I'd be very curious to know if we intentionally played maddeningly conservative all game just so we could surprise them with a different strategy in the last 10 minutes, or if Lunney just finally made a change out of desperation. If it was intentional, it was a brilliant strategy that worked. I would not have had the patience to keep running the ball up the gut when it wasn't working (because I wanted to save my scat back until it was too late for them to change). Either way, I agree with you Mr Tibbs. Luke was hitting 2/3rds of his passes and, as you noted, the defense knew exactly what we were going to do every first and second down. There was very little creativity until the last quarter.

Good because I won't be able to speak for a couple days and my ears are ringing. I need more of this.

The offense was getting stuffed all day and then pulled off the exact two drives they needed in the 4th to take the lead and then eat most of the clock. And the secondary after looking like lost lambs last year was absolutely dominant tonight.
And honestly how many past games has this exact thing happened in the other direction? With a somewhat even opponent suddenly catching fire in the fourth quarter? Heck just last year Iowa fits the bill.

Great win. Go Illini!

Only the most cockeyed optimist could find a silver lining in that game. It was an absolute travesty that we lost to that TERRIBLE Illini team. They'll be lucky to win 2 Big 10 games this year. I can't remember a KU loss in which I thought we outclassed the opponent in talent as much as we did in this one. It's a terrible indictment of the coaching on the offensive side of the ball because I thought the defense played well for the most part.

So those picks Daniel’s threw against this TERRIBLE team were a result of KS offensive coaching, crippling the superior talent of Jalon (and his receivers)?
