First impressions on Will Riley are mixed. More positive seeing how smooth of shooter and doesn't seem to let defense mess up his shot once he decides to shoot. My one concern is that he doesn't have that downhill burst a TSJ had and seems kind loose with his dribble. Very small sample size so I have to see more and against better competition. I am worried his speed could be trouble against a physical big ten defender that will press the issue and not give him that space he needs to create.

With that said you see a lot players in basketball especially in the NBA who aren't lightning fast and still can't be stopped offensively. Such as Luka who moves a much slower pace but is effective at getting to his spots. Not saying Riley is Luka by any means but if Riley is able to use his length and pace to move off defenders and get to his spots he will be a very very hard to stop. He has a great pull mid range shot. If he can consistently hit that shot and then look for either a cutter or corner shooter off of it would make him that much better of an offensive player.

Excited to see how he looks throughout the non conference against all different levels of competition and if he can even just shoot 50% from 3 this team will be very hard to stop
I am not sure anybody has the 'downhill burst' like TSJ.

Now for something completely different

I tuned in 3 game minutes late and kept wondering who Genesis was. Eventually I figured she was an Illini WBB player. She did a god job, especially compared to the yahoo from a few years ago who yelled something memorable bug irritating (Schmack) every time we hit a three.

It was a great idea to bring in a member of our WBB team to do color, but I wish that every time they showed the two on screen, they would have a caption with their names also onscreen.

Now do the same for a WBB game with a MBB doing colors.

Overall it was a decent student produced broadcast,
thus says the good book

Riley may not have the downhill burst of TSJ but who does. He is taller, smoother and can stop and pull up for a jumper about anywhere. TSJ did not have that in his arsenal or he just didn't think to do it very often. Probably because he could blow by 90% of the defenders at will and score or get to the foul line. As a lot of people say on here, Riley is a bucket.
