I am not sure anybody has the 'downhill burst' like TSJ.First impressions on Will Riley are mixed. More positive seeing how smooth of shooter and doesn't seem to let defense mess up his shot once he decides to shoot. My one concern is that he doesn't have that downhill burst a TSJ had and seems kind loose with his dribble. Very small sample size so I have to see more and against better competition. I am worried his speed could be trouble against a physical big ten defender that will press the issue and not give him that space he needs to create.
With that said you see a lot players in basketball especially in the NBA who aren't lightning fast and still can't be stopped offensively. Such as Luka who moves a much slower pace but is effective at getting to his spots. Not saying Riley is Luka by any means but if Riley is able to use his length and pace to move off defenders and get to his spots he will be a very very hard to stop. He has a great pull mid range shot. If he can consistently hit that shot and then look for either a cutter or corner shooter off of it would make him that much better of an offensive player.
Excited to see how he looks throughout the non conference against all different levels of competition and if he can even just shoot 50% from 3 this team will be very hard to stop
