Illini Golfers in the Pros

Bob Goalby, I think. Attended U of I, I think, Won famous/infamous Masters in 1968 after Roberto's scorecard mistake.
BOB GOALBY:
-- Huge name in the 1960's and into the 1970's. Belleville native.
-- Always on the leader board, along with Nicklaus, Palmer, Hale Irwin, Lee Trevino, Billy Casper, Tom Weiskopf, Johnny Miller, et.al.
-- 11 career wins; 1 Major
-- Perhaps the equivalent of Rickie Fowler in today's game
-- Also the uncle of Jay Haas. Great uncle of Bill Haas. (Jay lives in my SC neighborhood.)

Unfortunately Piercen and Tommy both missed the cut in the Victoria Open. Piercen qualified for the entire Canadian swing so he should get more starts this summer. Another former Illini, Noah Gillard, made the cut and is currently T19. Noah, who transferred to IU prior to his junior year, is also making his professional debut.

Thomas Detry (PGA Tour Traveler's Championship) and Brian Campbell (KFT Compliance Solutions Championship) both will play the weekend as well.
Besard is in the KLM Open but didn't make the cut.

Also, I feel I haven't seen ADC playing much lately but I believe he has qualified for the Olympics (with Detry), so we'll have two Illini playing!

Four Illini will be in the field this weekend at the Memorial Health Championship in Springfield. Thursday tee times are below, I'm sure there will be a few on this board that make it out there!

Dylan Meyer just finished his second round at Panther Creek in Springfield with a 10 under 61.

He moved up 120 places to currently a tie for 9th. Hopefully a confidence builder for him, he hasn't gotten many KFT starts this year.

The cut is -5 at this time and Brian Campbell is at -5 after 36 holes, Jackson Buchanan is -9 with 3 holes left in his second round.

It looks like all 3 will make the cut.

BMW International Open completed 1st Round with Thomas Pieters shooting -3 (FRL -6)

Pieters was +3 thru 5 holes and shot -6 last 13 holes. He tried to hit it between trees from the rough and hit the tree square on with a ricochet backwards about 60-70 yards on his double bogey hole.

Good coverage of Besard's hole in one.

Pieters was one of the featured groups and I didn't watch the whole round. Besard was on the last tee time (probably 2 hours after Pieters) and actually saw Pieters is why I commented. Feel free to take over the coverage.....:ROFLMAO:

Wasn't a rip on the coverage. They actually showed the HIO several times and commented on Besard being from U of I.

Just being snarky back with you. Like I said I turned it off before he hit it. Last group to tee off and was done watching hours before it happened.

Langer farewell to European Tour or whatever, great tv coverage. Fun watching him today on Golf Channel. Hope he still plays on Champions. My God, Bernhard's soon to be 67! As Paul McCartney said, "I believe in yesterday." But I add that trite expression "time flies when you're having fun!"

But "Go Matthis!"" Your future looks mighty fun.

Illini should be well represented in tournaments this next week

Two PGA Tour events, KFT tourney, PGA Champions Tour, LIV

Genesis Scottish Open with secondary PGA tourney in Kentucky this week with ISCO Championship. Longshots but know Nick Hardy, Adrien Dumont De Chassart and Matthis Besard are all in ISCO Championship. Get those points!

Re: post 73 - I know it's Matthis, not Matthias. Typo. Sorry, Matt.
