I also believe they will right the ship. But some surprising efforts the last couple of weeks. Was not expecting that out of Vois considering the form he came in with. he didn't count the first two rounds with an 80-76. We had to count a 75 each of the first two rounds, one from Ethan the other from Jackson. Those are pretty big scores to counteract. Ethan played decent but not consistent enough to keep us afloat. It was really that first round where we stubbed our toe to much. Still nice play from Max/Jackson/Trey but not contending for the medalist type play. If you don't have a big dog going super low you must be balanced at the back. We haven't quite done that the last two.

So, if the Illini are hosting a regional, can they play at that regional?
Or, in contrast are they virtually assured to play in their own regional?
Which seems like an awfully big advantage. I remember playing Oregon for the national championship on their home course and it didn't seem fair.

They will be assigned to that regional. Big advantage for sure.
And the Atkins family.
I think there was/is a rule that teams couldn't/can't play an NCAA championship course within a year of the tournament. Regionals different. I think. Illini practice at Atkins, as far as I know. Clue me in.
The mother of unfair home-court advantage was 1984 Illinois-Kentucky basketball regional final at Rupp Arena for a berth in the Final Four. NCAA changed the rule after that game. I will never forget the injustice.

I believe the Illini couldn’t host another tournament at Atkins this year if hosting regionals. I’m sure that’s why no spring tournament there. Clearly the Illini can play there not sure about other teams?
Pretty certain they have an open course policy now for the finals course with the exception of about three weeks before the ncaa finals. Teams are free to go play there whenever up to that time. La Costa in Carlsbad CA is home to the finals through 2028 now.

Which course did they play? I think the Ducks have 3 home courses, Shadow Hills CC, Eugene CC and Emerald Valley GC. Emerald Valley might be the natural home course, but maybe they can choose based on the match ups. Shadow is pretty open and the greens don't break much, a bit of tricky wind on a couple holes that would be home field advantage, Eugene CC is sort of narrow with trees and can challenge with bad shots. Emerald is a beautiful course not as open and straight forward as Shadow, but "in my opinion" tougher greens. Shadow can punish you if you're not accurate. All are great courses.
