Illini Golf 2024-2025

I don't understand why we have to wait until the last minute to find out the lineup for Folds of Honor. The tournament starts tomorrow after all. FOH website says scoring will be available on Golfstat. No release, no info from Illinois golf office as of five minutes ago.

Good news: coverage all three days on Golf Channel.

It’s available on Scoreboard

It wouldn’t shock me if lineup looks like this: JB, max, voois, Marrion, and butteress. Bardwell is a stud too. Probably small’s best freshman class since Dylan Meyer and Hardy’s year.
It will not be butteress he’s struggling a little. Marrion definitely starting, bardwell is solid

It’s marrion and the returning guys starting. Jake and Joe didn’t travel with the team they played at Atkins the other day.

Alright it is set, Ethan makes the trip. He had a really solid freshman year and just shows the depth of this program as a whole. You must come ready to play here, nobody just walks into the starting 5.

Worth noting it is very hard as freshman to play right away under small. There’s a progression you have to hit at Atkins and the freshman find it harder because they don’t know the course like the returning guys and they can’t play Atkins until school starts and they’re on the team established etc. All 3 are very talented though and I think it’s telling that Mike small didn’t go after any transfers to shore up the lineup and kept the team at 7. I think he really thinks 2 of Ethan/the freshman will be very good this year. Or at least improve at lot by the postseason

Its a great situation to be in for sure.

I would love to know Small's qualifying process. how one earns a spot, what the qualifying rounds look like, if there are goalposts in previous starts that guarantee the next tourney. It is often different in programs.

I don’t really have any inside information on any of that besides one thing. At the start of the year for any player to play in a major event they have to go through their progressions at Atkins. Which means breaking 70 from first the grey tees then the white then the blue then the orange. Then they can play. They don’t bother with the red. It’s tough to do this but most guys get it done within the first two weeks.

I learned more this morning about Illinois golf than I have in years. Thanks.

Not gonna watch schools and players I couldn't care less about. But what did I expect? Switching to Andy Griffith Show yet again.

Go Illini!

Fully agree golfstat is such a better service, this makes it hard to follow, I am hoping its just me getting used to it but damn I wish they had the entire team scores lined up together so we can see how the team is progressing through holes. College golf really isn't an individual sport despite the television coverage and the new way clipd is scoring.

Great start to the season! yes Bama is out of the gate but I bet they come back to the pack and if they don't well more power to them, damn impressive start. Jackson with a phenomenal back nine 33, low of the 1st round. Marrion also with an even par round good for 10th in his first college event, this bodes very well. Super solid all-around and I think something around even tomorrow morning well have us in a great spot for the final round.

I'm sure this is true of everyone, but I've been super impressed with Jackson for last 6 months. He's playing great golf. And I walked a bit with his dad at NCAA and seems like a great family as well

All he’s missing to be the next Illini to go pro and make the tour is a little bit of consistency you saw ADDC have his senior year. All the talent and potential in the world. Rooting for him this year hard

Illinois is now tied with Alabama. So far we are -7 on the day. Alabama is +4. Jackson and Trey -2. Max -3 Ryan even. Ethan struggling a bit +3
Couldn't make that math work until I remembered worst score is dropped. :sneaky: Long week...
