Cheaters still going to cheat!
Yeah, not seeing how this is any different than the old days. You had a salary cap then, which was the value of a scholarship. Any cap now just has money going back under the table - but over or under, the amount of money will be the market value of the players.

It's very telling that there are only 4 sacks to highlight through the "easy" part of the schedule.

There are actually 5 sacks this season so far: 1 each against Eastern and Kansas (big sack-fumble to end game) and 3 against CMU.

But you are completely ignoring the turnovers forced:

6 interceptions and 3 fumbles recovered, and a +8 turnover margin through 3 games (all while allowing fewer than 9 points per game).

The defense has shown weaknesses in the run game, but overall, it has produced very well. There is naturally work to do, but your post is highly misleading.

besides points , turnovers are probably the most important metric in predicting outcome .

One-size-fits-all salary caps sounds a lot like a level playing field, right? Somehow the NFL has done it. How is the NCAA different?
Bravo! This fixes the #1 problem in NCAA sports.

* Give me the NFL parity model --- please!
* Equality for all
* And yes, Vanderbilt = Alabama when it comes to recruiting
* Bring back the ability to gauge true coaching geniuses. I don't want to see/watch/reward the best recruiters. I want to see the best coaches, who run the best offenses/defenses and who call the best plays
* Who wants to see Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State in the college football Final 4 every year? Give me Oregon State, Wake Forest, Illinois and North Carolina every once in a while.
