While I am cautiously optimistic for the season and certainly excited for college football (as always), I think these are the two things I desire most this year:

1. Revenge against Kansas in front of an energetic crowd under the lights on a beautiful September day ... hopefully an atmosphere like when Arizona State came to town in 2011!
2. Pack Wrigley with orange shirts and beat the Kitties handily.

That'd be cool, but I will say the 2011 Illini football had a decent amount of buzz preseason, at least for an Illini football team. They brought a lot of guys back from a team that had just dominated Baylor in a bowl game, and played at a pretty high level that season. I am more optimistic than most, but that buzz doesn't seem to be there this year even if they have sold a decent amount of tickets.

I think eight wins is doable. Six wins should be expected (barring injuries, etc). Even the games I expect to be losses don't scare me. If the Illini lose to Oregon, Penn State and (hopefully not) Michigan, I expect the team to play well and make it a competitive game. I don't foresee any 63-0 white washings.

63-0 might not happen...

but I don't see the Oregon game being competitive. The same could probably be said for PSU and scUM as well...Oregon's just another level this year and it's a road game too.

For comparison's sake, FloJo averaged 21.3 mph in her record setting 10.49 100m.
For comparison’s sake, when I was a college sophomore, some buddies and I went down to the quad late one night. The Champaign Police had one of those radar speed signs set up on Wright Street right next to Lincoln Hall. We took turns running past the sign.

I’m 100% positive I hit 20mph and may have flashed 21mph, but not sure. And no… it wasn’t picking up a car driving behind me.

Per KFord, we have two games that are sure wins. There are no games in which we have a probability of winning in the 60's or 70's, or even high 50's. We'd have to sweep all three games that we have a slight probability of winning (PU, MSt and NW). Then we only have one other game with a probability of winning higher than 33% (MN). I would not bet that we'll sweep all four of those games. 5-7 would be a good year and 6-6 would be an excellent year.
