Illini Basketball 2024-2025

As we are heading out west this week for football, I decided to check our basketball schedule to see what that travel will be like. Honestly, we lucked out this season. We play both the LA teams at home, including USC at 9 am their time. And we go to the Pacific Northwest in January before school starts up. That's about as advantageous as it's gonna get. Feel bad for the teams that have to head out west during February and March. And the travel for those west coast teams is just wild.
I've always found that traveling west was easier on me than traveling east. And then factor in the midwest winter. Brutal. But I'm pretty excited the Illini are coming out to Eugene in January. I bought tickets for the wife and I. It will be the first time seeing the O&B since I was in college. 1989. Eugene is a fun college town. Definitely looking forward to the trip.

Jake has put on muscle. Good for him.
Hell yes. He’s gonna be next Thor if he keeps going…

Kwa Jones is temporarily filling in as an assistant.

According to insiders, Underwood has identified and knows his top target. Going to try and get him next offseason.
Thank you! Still not ideal since promoting within still leaves us a head count short, but best of luck to Kwa in his new role.

As a fan, I see Rutgers ahead of us and laugh. As a player, I would use that as motivation to prove the media wrong. Honestly, I kinda would rather have a team this young and inexperienced start the season with a chip on their shoulder and hungry to prove people wrong rather than them possibly given an ego boost. Go Illini!
If we run a way from Ole Miss Sunday we will have our first indicator of our severe underrating...

Having made the trip more than a dozen times for competition I can only say that going from Eastern to Pacific time zone is far easier with which to adapt and perform than the opposite.

Anyone have any idea when that Maryland-Eastern Shore game will be? I've been invited to the game by a coworker, but my husband wants to know how long I'll be gone that day. Thanks I advance!
Most likely will be announced shortly after the time for the Rutgers football game is announced. Probably trying to not have them overlap.
If they're holding off setting the Mar-ES (Nov. 23) tipoff time until the football kickoff is set, on the one hand that's very cool, on the other fans will have to be patient until perhaps the night of the 16th to find out. Go Illini

Demin is going to be an elite college player as well … Especially in BYU system …

But I do think KJ will be even better …
If Demin qualifies...read an article (behind a pay wall) that there's a question mark about his amateur status and has not (yet?) been cleared to play.

I don't recall where I saw it, but it was stating that it was easier going from eat to west was because it followed the natural flow of the circadian rhythm. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west and it is earlier to adapt to time zones that follow this pattern as opposed to gong against it, west to east.

I’d guess it’s not real rare, but the football matchup with #1 Oregon and our bball schedule got me wondering when the last year we played #1s in both sports. I’m guessing point spread for bball game will be lower than spread for Oregon game if it happens this year.

Egwu took way too much unearned flak on here for not being prolific on offense. Man could that guy play some defense.
so did Chester Frazier. Unfortunately for these great players, the coaches couldn't recruit very well and forced these Illinois recruits to be offensive players despite that part of there game still needing development.

For 3 years, Frazier basically allowed teams to play 5 on 4 when we were on offense because he was such a non-factor. So I had pretty ambivalent feelings about him at that point because his defense was just incredible to watch. But then in his final year he was able to score more consistently and I don't think most of the fan base ever fully gave him credit for that.
