Sean miller was brought up as a potential head coaching candidate if underwood were to jump ship. Sean miller is not coming to Illinois to be an assistant.

Tim Anderson takes indefinite leave from Illini hoops staff

"Illinois has promoted Kwa Jones to fill Anderson's role temporarily, joining Orlando Antigua, Geoff Alexander, Tyler Underwood and Zach Hamer as assistants."

yeah, I freakin' hate this. why Anderson and Whitman couldn't reach a compromise is kind of mind blowing. ugh

There’s a lot to it … Lot I won’t share here …

The one thing that’s kind of leaked out that is true is that TA wanted to be compensated on an Antigua type of level … He was on the last year of his deal following an elite 8 run and he felt he deserved an extension and raise to 900k - 1 million per year …

Instead of giving him that … We gave that to Antigua …

That didn’t go over very well …

There’s other things as well but that’s what I’ll share publicly …
Thanks for the info; lot of tough choices to make...or maybe not.

Should have paid the man. He is worth every penny. Great coach, recruiter, and man. I wish I knew who the potential replacement is.

If we can get the guy Brad is targeting ... 10 ...

It would be the best assistant coaching staff in the country IMO ... Top 5 at minimum ...
Change is necessary for growth...............................a saying I used while I was still working at the piece of the rock.......always made sense to me.............it really really did and does still.....................

I'm sad to see Tim go and I wish him luck. Brad's track record of hiring great assistant coaches speaks for itself. I'm not worried.

Better position as a program now than when TA was hired. Wish him all the best but this train keeps moving.
