There’s more issues with Tomislav than we previously knew …
Completely foreseeable. He's a professional basketball player, and was so for a year longer than his brother.

There needs to be some sort of a line or all of college basketball will be adult Europeans. We'll see. Between OA and Tomislav himself there's a lot of knowledge of the process, but the facts may not be terribly friendly.

The occasional moonshot take aside, I have never understood the Gritty disdain. Every good message board needs a verbose know-it-all. I hope he'll fall under the posting spell again soon. 🤷‍♂️
Lol I'm so flattered to be talked about when I disappear.

I plead super duper guilty as to being a verbose know-it-all. I have never understood the charges of being Mr. Pessimist Hater though...

Really trying to not spend so much time and energy here. But I hear things and my first thought is "I wonder what Loyalty is saying about this"

When it comes to juicing engagement, Elon Musk has nothing on Dan!

The fact that if Goode is a player that stands out for them makes me think they're not as good as advertised.

Either that, or Goode is going to come out with a Jamison Battle type of bag this year, and that would be tough to believe, idk. Always loved him but just never saw him as a guy who'd be one of your best 3 players, for instance.

Usually standing out really correlates, in coachspeak, to outperforming expectations.

I'm guessing 15-20 minutes a game with a few that he gets hot in and plays longer.

I'm wishing him my best. Only going to Iowa or following Satan to wherever he is at a particular moment, would cause me to wish ill on a guy who honorably suited up for us.

Why would anyone think Indiana is going to come close to the hype I'm seeing? I just don't get it. Mike Woodson is still coaching, and it's not like I'm really seeing the talent upgraded THAT much to overcome him.

They can keep firing up those long 2s . . .

Goode was really good for us in the tournament. He's also very likely worked his rear off to improve and has had a lot of motivation to be at his best for his new team. I wouldn't be surprised to see a completely different version of him when he first suits up in Bloomington. But I sure hope not. Man I hate the Hoosiers.

IU may have talent, but I still think they have a math problem. They didn’t make a single 3 pointer against us last year. They are going to have to be really efficient from 2 to make up for their lack of 3 point shooting. Plus, Ballo is a terrible FT shooter, which means they will have to be really, really efficient from 2.

The only shooting they brought in was Goode and of course we know he is a good one. But he’s a 3/4, meaning every time they play him they are taking one of their 3 or 4 best players off the court (will need to take one of Ballo, Reneau or Mbako off.).

Even if they are elite defensively and on the glass, still think they are setting themselves up to win a lot of games 65-60. Like all those years the Bears went all in on defense trying to win 21-17. It just doesn’t leave you much room for error. And no matter how good you are defensively, a good P5 team will crack 60 points against you most nights.

Maybe Galloway and Rice get a bunch of open looks off of double teams and take leaps as shooters. My guess, Brad will let their bigs eat and we will space them to death with our positional size and shooting on the other end. The math favors us.

They have a fit problem. They went out and added a ton of talented guys in the portal but I'm not sure how they will fit together.

Mgbako, Reneau, and even likely Tucker are more of mid range and in guys that can knock down an open 3 but aren't really shooters(Mgbako would thrive as a college 4 imo). Ballo is only effective within 5 feet of the basket.

Neither Rice or Carlyle were good 3 pt shooters as freshman but maybe they improve(Rice did shoot very well from the FT line, Carlyle was solid).

It's like they built a team to play 20 years ago rather than a modern offense.

I like Goode and hope he plays well while a Indiana loses but I don't really see how he can come out as a completely different player.

He just simply has too many limitations(that's fine for a role player). He's a good set shooter but he can't really put that ball on the floor at all. He plays hard and has decent length and that causes him to actually be pretty solid on the boards(especially on offense) but a lack of lateral quickness and thin frame can be exposed defensively. Quicker guys will blow by him and stronger players just bully him inside.

Probably poor wording by me, not necessarily when it all gets sorted out but more when Illinois has a better idea of what it's actually going to look like and where money needs to go.
Can't we just let go a half dozen "administrators" and use the savings to keep TA? Seems like Josh did something similar during Covid.
