Preseason projections have started apparently. Rothstein has Illinois at 8 in his preseason power rankings.

Means very little, but interesting nonetheless.
I haven't seen our squad anywhere near the top 25 in most, but not all, of the preseason rankings. We're projected to be on the bubble as well.

Interesting to see the difference between some here who have us in the mix to win the conference and making a deep tournament run vs those from the outside looking at us from 50,000 feet.

I think we might be a Sweet 16 caliber team right now but there’s a lot of unknowns and we’ll have to see how guys mesh early on.

We are similar to the baseball teams that spend a bunch of money and get a powerhouse roster. Sometimes they win it all, and sometimes the are below .500.
I'm voting for winning it all.

Coach of the Year opportunity
This is exactly correct. If this team is in upper echelon of the conference, BU will have won BTCOY.
The complete roster overhaul, a young team, no players(outside of probably KB), that have carried any sort of load on a winning college level team, trying to implement European players to a new culture and a faster game, implementing two freshman into the mix, etc is an enormous task.

It'll be quite the ride. For this one year, the floor is going to be lower than the last few teams, but the ceiling could be sky high. This is the first time in a long, long time where we truly don't know what we're going to be going into the season.

I suspect that it's going to be a rough ride early, but hopefully we're in a good enough position late in the year to make something happen. If that occurs, coach U will be at the top of the list for a couple of awards.

So honest question for people who know better, but in the highlights, I noticed that KJ jumps pretty far forward on his 3 point shots, is that good form or something that will need to be fixed?

I noticed that also. It does create a lot of free-throw opportunities on the 3 point shot and traffic doesn’t seem to interfere with his release.

Wow GMan we are in pretty good shape when we can only worry about KJ's jump shot mechanics. If they go in, do not over think it. I really like the talent upgrade on this team.

That's KJ Strategery...turning a run-of-the-mill 3-pointer into a sure thing 4-pointer...cue the gentelman pointing to his brain with the index finger.
