I think you ought not read too much into small sample size freshmen free throw shooting percentages.

As to practice, of course players are doing that. My guess is that for most they don't burn too many ncaa limited coaching minutes. Players should be doing that on their own.

That 3 game stretch of the 2021 BTT was the most beautiful Illini ball I’ve seen (too young to remember ‘05). A well-oiled machine with masked Ayo at the helm. Rutgers had to practically beg for mercy.
Yep, this stretch below REALLY had me believin' we could make a big run in March. We had won 7 in a row before losing in East Lansing (the game where Ayo got hurt), but I always knew we had a GAUNTLET to end the season coming up. Without Ayo, we...

2/25: W 86-70 vs. Nebraska. This game had me terrified, lol. It was great to see the guys pull away from an inferior opponent.
2/27: W 74-69 at #23 Wisconsin. This was not as close as the final score indicates, and I remember thinking this was SUCH a huge win for this team without Ayo. 2 in a row in Madison!
3/2: W 76-53 at #2 Michigan. There are honestly no words that do this beatdown justice, but I was fully drinking the Kool-Aid.
3/6: W 73-68 at #7 Ohio State. Ayo's return, but I was honestly fully prepared and okay with a "comedown" loss ... but we toughed it out on the road.

Then came the absolute annihilation of a solid Rutgers team that had already beat us that year by a score of 90-68. After that performance, there was honestly not a doubt in my mind we were beating Iowa the next day, and when we beat OSU in SUCH a tough, emotional game with that chip on our shoulder to hang a Big Ten banner after being slighted by the league ... I really, TRULY believed we were going to win it all. I think there is an alternate timeline where we did. :(

We have a chance to do something this season that no other team has done before: Win four in a row at the Kohl Center! That's crazy to think, since not too long ago we were coming off a 15 game losing streak to the Badgers.

Anyone else catch that our missed PGs are the equivalent of Larry Bird, David Thompson, Shabazz Napier and Kemba Walker?

Now I get why we are mad about losing out on our PG prospects.

Doomed.
I don’t recall saying that David Thompson
was the equivalent of our point guard misses. I’m not sure some of the other posters were saying that either.

I was merely responding to this. Period.

But the whole premise of the thread of thought was that a “legit” PG like Ray J or Mulcahy would have made us a final four contender, while the lack of a “legit” PG means we might not make the tournament.

Then people started listing off these other people as examples of what would have happened if they took the above mentioned people off the team.

The fact that we havent read anything about Ty and Sincere and Dain and Coleman improving on their free throws, leads me to
believe that there hasnt been much improvement in that area or we would have heard about it.
Or they haven't played in a live game, with fans in attendance, to see what has it has not improved. Were you hoping to hear about their shooting percentages at the end of practice?

Alright, I see your thought process. I was speaking/thinking in more of a broad generality.

He took 17 3PAs in conference play. 41 all year. Not saying he's lights out, and it could very much be a weakness. But, as I stated about FT%, we are talking about small sample sizes here.

We don't have enough data to "definitely" say anything. The team might have enough info, since he's obviously taken more threes in practice. But we, as uninformed fans, do not.

  • Averaged 20.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.8 steals as a senior
  • Averaged 14.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 3.1 assists as a junior
Harris showed steady improvement from his junior to senior year in high school

Amani has an excellent frame and VG physique for a kid just out of HS
Wow Amani is a large 18 yr. old and DGL is really short. Unless, Sencire has grown taller than his 6.3 or 6.4? Great athlete, just surprised at his 5.10 or 5.11 stature. I am a buyer on DGL, just surprised. Dainja is a fit transformed big man since arriving on campus.
