FWIW he's listed at 6'10 and our listed heights are pretty generous.Regarding this Coleman Hawkins- he gets himself in bad positions due to foul trouble, and that limits how much he can play. You can also see by some of his reactions to calls how much pressure he puts on himself, so I’m taking that as an extension of how much he cares.
As a coach, I’d have a hard time keeping a 6’11 player with decent handle, shooting, passing, length and athleticism off the court. So my hope is that Coleman is just going through a mid season sophomore slump. Things like that happen. We need his skill set based on certain matchups we will come across. If he can play hard but under control, he will be hard to take off the court.
Yes and no. In some ways he plays too freely.I believe Hawkins is looking over his shoulder, to be pulled out, and not playing freely. The last 7 games the 4 position has not been very productive. The 4 position production sets the ceiling for this team.
Over the summer, his father posted that he had hit 6' 11" if I remember correctly.FWIW he's listed at 6'10 and our listed heights are pretty generous.

I don't know that the 4 sets the ceiling for this team. But it would be nice to have a 6'10 PF that can be a decent outside shooter in addition to hitting the boards (which Hawkins does well). If I were advising Hawkins this offseason, I'd tell him to put up >1,000 jump shots a day. He needs to be confident in that shot. And if he decides to dribble, he needs to have a decent idea of what the plan is. Too often he puts the ball on the floor w/o a plan.
Well, most guys want an extra inch or two.Over the summer, his father posted that he had hit 6' 11" if I remember correctly.
Yup. He puts the ball down with no idea of what options A, B, and C are. It's like, hey look "I'm a 6'10 PF with good handles."He can dribble but I agree that his drives aren't very confident. It seems like he just waiting to see what happens instead of attacking. I think he needs to focus his game more on just a few consistent moves and counters then expand from there.
His dad is 6'10" and said Coleman was already 6'11" this summerFWIW he's listed at 6'10 and our listed heights are pretty generous.
Not sure either of us can prove either way. All I know is our program tends to be very generous with listed heights. If we're listed him at 6'10, I'm thinking that's a max for him.His dad is 6'10" and said Coleman was already 6'11" this summer
Hoping for a speedy recovery for him and some significantly better luck from here on out.
That is just scary

Hopefully this means D1 hockey is right back on track!
Uh, excuse me but that is The OSU. With that kind of $$ being thrown around, they deserve the The.Crazy OSU is #1
So do we restart the Hutch discussion all over again?
They do and it’s a pretty good one.Uh, excuse me but that is The OSU. With that kind of $$ being thrown around, they deserve the The.
BTW, do they even have a School of Business?
Your infatuation with J G is clouding your outlook on things.Yup. He puts the ball down with no idea of what options A, B, and C are. It's like, hey look "I'm a 6'10 PF with good handles."
I going from memory here, so I’m probably not very accurate, but their total budget is ballpark 3-4 times ours (maybe thats football?), so when the money stops coming in, the losses mount fast. I’m making my point poorly I know. I’m just saying it’s not directly comparable for the schools at the top to our situation.Crazy OSU is #1
