I always have wondered if RJ is 100% happy and does not care what others think about HIS OWN LIFE !! He plays because he loves basketball, he is more interested in getting a great education and his happiness for the future?? Just my opinion....I wouldn't be shocked at all, and am happy for him!! To me. regrets and vengeful thoughts are wasted energy!!! JMHO

One K-State fan’s take on Coleman after one game. I’d say he pretty much nailed it:

I do not know what to think of Hawkins. Seems slow and not very athletic but great hands and ball skills for a 6 10 guy. Sees the court and great passer but looks like he struggles to create his own shot. Reminds me of Larry Williams from way back in Hartmans first few seasons.

One thing did stand out. Hawkins whines too much. Surprised me to see an experienced player do that. Did not impress me when he grabbed his eye like he was really hurt and gave them an easy basket. Then got mad that Tang took him out due to his "eye injury".

Another good post about CoHawk:

Hawkins has been described as a connector. J looked this term up., and it defined as..

"A connector in basketball is a player who can positively impact the team without dominating the game. They can do this through their play, leadership, and ability to connect the offense from one side of the floor to the other. "

I think this applies to Hawkins. He was off in scoring, but seem to be contributing in other ways such as 9 rebounds and 5 assists. He help bring the ball up court often and is a good passer. I wonder how much his ball handling and passing skills aided in the low number of turnovers.

Did he even watch that play? Dude's fingers went straight into CH's eye. Crazy.

This person obviously knows something about basketball. The other, not as much.

I’ll be very interested to see how Epps does this season. Seemed to be some on here who really liked to hate on him last year because he left Illini to be a “gunner on a bad team.” Never mind that team was really bad and he needed to shoot a lot. With two transfers (including a point guard) and a 4* freshman starting also (along with a transfer getting 28 minutes off the bench), Epps was only 4th on team in shots attempted. He hit 6 of 11 overall and 3-6 from 3. Only one game and it was against Lehigh, so we’ll see if it continues.

To be fair, I do think Hawkins complains to the officials too much. I said as much a few times when he played for Illinois as well. I never like to see players or coaches consistently complain about calls. It's not a good look, and it distracts the team from focusing on what they can control. To his credit, I think Underwood has significantly improved in this area and saves his powder for when he feels it's genuinely warranted.

I like Epps alot. He is a bucket. Not much defense from him. I hope he has a fruitful career.

Was checking to see how former Beaver Tyler Bilodeau did in his first game at UCLA (led team in scoring with 18), and saw another familiar name — Skyy Clark. Apologies if mentioned already, but looks like he had an OK game. Only scored 3 pts (1-5; 1-3 from 3) in 20 minutes as a starter, but he had 7 assists (3 TOs) and a steal and blocked shot.
