Chicago Cubs 2024

What happened to the defense? They were really good last year. This year, with essentially the same team, they are horrible.

6 straight series losses. Last year with basically the same lineup, the offense scored the 3rd most runs in the NL. despite some questionable lineups and substitutions sometimes, I don't blame Counsell. this is on the players. it's incredible how many guys aren't performing up to expectations

I think at least one of these must be true:
1. Hoyer is a bad GM.
2. Rickets has handcuffed Hoyer and feels no sense of urgency to put together a WS contender since the Cubs got the elusive title in 2016. Cubs payroll is ninth highest in MLB- not horrible but not where it could be either.
3. The Cubs got the wrong guy from Milwaukee.

Brown made two bad pitches yesterday. The HBP and the home run, an off speed pitch right down the middle when no one was catching up to his fastball. Then the Cubs got 4 shut down innings from their pen.

The offense has got to pick up the team in a game like that, but they went 1-11 with RISP.

It's just a real bummer that there isn't a dedicated time of the year or process for the front office to address the on-field needs and weaknesses from the previous season. Seems like a major market team with ample resources could probably make some productive moves or come up with some insurance for injuries or underperformance at that hypothetical portion of the calendar. Alas.

Can you imagine?

It’d be like cheating.

Sox probably activating Robert today. For the 2nd straight year they wait to play the Cubs to activate him from IL.
Also, pushing up Fedde to start Wednesday. I'm surprised they didn't rest Crochet 3 days to face us tonight.
This is their World Series but if we can't beat them twice at home we have a problem.

Cubs lineup making yet another pitcher look like Cy young. error by morel didn't help but Shota not very sharp tonight. this is the sox' biggest lead in their last 35 games. embarrassing but not unexpected to be losing to them with the way the cubs have been playing

I'm not concerned if they lose one game to the White Sox. But if they lose the series or get swept, the Cubs need to do some major overhauling.

Was this during the rain delay? If so, it looks like your sacrifice appeased the baseball gods (at least for 1 night).
Started the process when they were down 5-1. Tried Marquee for two months and it’s just not compatible to how I consume sports. Record everything and watch later. Watching a large amount of live regular season baseball is just not something my attention span can take. Plus the Cubs seem to stink.

Are you kidding? If they continue their current streak they will be 131-31, new record for wins!
