If it's a staffer, particularly someone he hired, it seems like it's pretty easy to paint that as a gross misuse of a influential position which hurts everything from recruiting to day to day operations. The Coach O saga comes to mind in a way.
Yeah I suppose if he's schtupping a subordinate, fair enough. That's how RichRod went down at Arizona, and of course the legendary Bobby Petrino Incident at Arkansas.

Coach O was the wife of a Board of Trustees member wasn't it? A great and legendary way to get fired, but that ain't a subordinate!

It was catcalling the pregnant wife of a board trustee.

Although I feel like pregnant somehow makes it slightly more amusing & ickier.

Rumor on Purdue Reddit is Walters is gone soon, for cause, supposedly there is a confirmed affair with a staff member.

No clue if it’s true.
I heard from a Purdue guy yesterday that the rumor was he was having an affair with an admin and he told me he heard this from two separate sources.

It happened … It happened here on multiple occasions … And it happened again there …

And that’s from let’s say a very, very reliable source in our Administration … And someone at the same level at Purdue …

I made a post a while back that Walters would be fired and it had nothing to do with wins and losses … Had everything to do with how he conducted himself and his character and the way he treats people … I was told to keep things quiet so I worded it that way … But now that all this is finally out there … 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just so gross with a wife and two small kids to do that once, let alone multiple times. Glad he is tainting their program now—crazy that they did not catch wind of that prior to his hire.

Most of the time … This kind of stuff never gets out to the public …

The only reason this is getting out … Purdue needs to be able to fire for cause to save money …

Sad truth …

I hope Walters stays there, I have a bad feeling that they hunt for coaches we might fear like Kinne, Kotelniecki, Traylor, Stein, etc.

MSU got out from under their horrendous Mel Tucker contract this way, so Purdue has a template.
Tucker has sued the University, we shall see just how much of that buyout they avoid in the end.

they would be fools to hire an OC or DC again .
Meh, fighting the last war is a common folly in coaching searches.

Jason Candle is an obvious one. Not sure Barry Odom would leave for Purdue, better offers might be coming.

Purdue won by thinking differently with Joe Tiller, they could do the same again with Jeff Monken, IMO.

Please, please, please, no. As an Army enthusiast and with Monken being from Illinois, this would be not ideal.

It'll all depend on if there are additional improprieties other than a consensual affair. For example, the Tucker case involved harassment and use of power and authority to coerce someone he brought in as a team trainer to have sexual relations with him or no longer be given future training opportunities.

While affairs are an icky business, and while there are contracts that have no fraternization clauses, if there winds up being no other cause here, this would probably be a hail mary attempt by Purdue to try and get out of paying him. Just one of those areas where what is legally acceptable vs. what is morally and ethically acceptable just don't necessarily align. And I don't think any of us will shed any tears if Purdue is on the hook financially for this mess.

As sad as it is, and as truly devastating they are for families with children, affairs do happen. And it is very telling that Ryan Walters clearly pissed off a lot of people for something like this to be leaked mid-season. Things like this normally stay buried for a while especially to try shielding a person's family, so this is some furious people close to the program leaking this stuff. He deserves being dragged through the mud for this but just hoping his wife and kids gets through this the best they can. Sad stuff.
