I'm looking forward to seeing Monday's play.
It looked narrow to me when the women were playing and naturally the men are playing another 700 yards.
Could look like driving the ball down an alley.

Yep, it's not the score that matters. It's how far off the lead they are. We are doing well.

Yeah, first 2 rounds are about not shooting yourself in the foot or digging a big hole (Stanford). I think the Illini typically play the first round pretty conservatively, trying to learn the course and prepping for the finish.

Back to +4

Shouldn't be too worried. Just look at the scores everyone else is putting up and you'll see the Illini are fairing pretty well. Only 1 team under par and I can see quite a few falling back before the end of the round.

Stanford went 9 holes (from 13 to 3 - they started on 10) without a birdie. 14 bogeys and 4 double bogeys in that span - McNealy with 2 of the doubles, too.

Ticker's also showing a hole-in-one on the 14th hole by an FSU golfer.

Dylan, +1
Charlie, +2
Thomas, +3
Nick, +4
Eduardo, +6
Team, +10

Not a great start, but this team has done the same thing many times.
As WVC said, they seem to spend some time settling in, then close with a vengeance.

Oof, rough ending, finished +10 and currently at T17. But still in ok position with 2 rounds before the cut and 3 before match play.

Even so far on 4-7. Got to -3 at one point, but for some reason we keep double-bogeying par-3's.

Couple teams that were ahead of us are shooting themselves in the foot, which is a good thing and Stanford is still struggling.

Now +2 for the day, but almost through the back 9 (we started on 10 today), which played a lot tougher for us yesterday.

Most importantly, 6 strokes out of the top 8 and only 2 out of the top 15.

Made some amends for that, 3/5 birdies on the par 3 3rd hole. Back to -1 for the day.

+11 at the moment. Not bad considering our top 4 combined both rounds are +8 on the par 3's.

I hadn't noticed until today that par is only 70 on this course. The scores make a lot more sense with that in mind.

Finished even on the day which is actually pretty good. Only one score better right now. that's Auburn who at one point was like -8 but has come back to earth and is -1.

They are in great shape, now.

With the afternoon group teeing off and the course playing difficult, they should keep moving up the leaderboard.

They could end up in the top 5 when this round is over.

Agreed....the current top 3 teams have yet to tee off.

I believe they cut down to top 15 after tomorrow's round. Then top 8 after Mondays round makes it to match play. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe you are right.
Plus a few of the guys playing individually (only playing for the national individual title) also make the cut, but they obviously have no effect on our team standing.

There are still lots of holes to go today, but I am very surprised by just how well all of the leading teams are playing. You have to drop all the way down to team #18 to find a team scoring at +4 today. Everyone else is better. Strong stuff
