Once again, no afternoon delight for Blues in loss to Islanders

ELMONT, N.Y. — The Blues must not be morning, or afternoon, people. Because they started groggy in an 11:30 a.m. (Central) start, and pretty much stayed groggy most of the game.
The result was a 2-1 loss Saturday to the New York Islanders at the brand new UBS Arena. The Blues (32-16-6) have won only two of seven afternoon games this season (2-3-2). They will try to escape from New York — or at least the greater New York area — with a point or two Sunday in New Jersey against the Devils.
Viewer discretion is advised. It’s another afternoon contest, with a noon start Central time.“Flat for a couple periods,” an obviously unhappy Craig Berube said. “We woke up, started doing things right. Pressuring. Had some opportunities. And made it a one-goal game.”
Way too late. The Blues have one of the NHL’s most potent offenses, but the Islanders’ tenacious, positionally sound defense took most of the bark and bite out of the St. Louis attack Saturday. You know it’s not a good day for your offense when the opposing team has twice as many goals disallowed as you score.
Yet one team was ready from the start. The other team, not so much.
Case in point: The Blues went on the power play just 25 seconds into the contest when the Isles’ Brock Nelson went off for hooking Torey Krug. But the only two shots on goal during the two-minute minor were taken by the Islanders, which isn’t the way power plays are supposed to work.

I just never felt the Blues had a good chance to tie or win the game based on effort , especially that of the Islanders.......They controlled the game with their tight forecheck and backchecking .........
Fast turn around ........Hope Husso is in goal today .....
LETS GO BLUES
