Going to be in kansas city this weekend. Anyone know a sports bar to watch illini basketball / big ten tournament? Unfortunately, Big 12 tournament will be going on in KC and it will be overrun with Kansas fans....

It seemed to me at the time that the BTT final v. Ohio State was the most intense one I'd seen in many years. It had the energy of an Elite 8 game. Someone I know who doesn't follow the BT watched it and told me he thought it was on par with the more intense NCAA tourney games he'd seen.
That was one of the best games ive seen. Two great teams battling. Glad we came out on top. I hope we get another shot at Purdue. I think Curbelo is ready to play at a high level again. Hawkins playing much better as of late, maybe he could play some minutes on Ivey.

My hazy memory -- which could be wrong. When the Big10 tourney was earlier and the top team lost in the finals, they sometimes dropped a line or two.

I don't recall that happening at all. And when was the Big 10 tourney earlier outside of the year they played a week earlier before selection Sunday?
This shift was pretty quick. I think it occurred after the first 2-3 years of the tournament, so ~2000.

Well I've made the last 4 home games from Peoria and the B10 Tourney in Indy last year and saw Elvis across the aisle leave the building with Mr Garza and loved it! But this Friday I'll be in Downtown Peoria leaving work early watching the game at 10:30 in my King Kofi shirt cheering for a win. The wife is in Chicago for a concert and hopefully will head over Sat! Lol So these are exciting times! Let's do this!

Assuming it’s a “possibility,” the NCAA would be dumb not to put us in Chicago. Those games will have big crowds no matter what, but Illinois in a Sweet Sixteen/Elite Eight will be sellouts at sky high prices.

Sorry if this has already been discussed......Why is the #1 seed in the B1G Tournament slotted in the 10:30 a.m. time slot on Friday and then the #2 and #3 seeds get the evening prime time slots? One would think the #3 and #4 seeds would play in the morning/afternoon session and the #1 and #2 seeds would get the evening prime time slots.
1/8 and 2/7 are less likely to be competitive.

I think it's probably more that emotional aspect. We were in "we're gonna prove you screwed us" mode during the BTT, I hypothesize... And once we reached that particular mountaintop, I believe there might have been a little dropoff in motivation. Just my supposition. Being in constant 'fight' mode isn't easy, physically or emotionally, no matter what age you are.
Agreed … I think that fight would have been “recovered” by the Sweet Sixteen, but obviously we know what happened. I want to win the BTT, of course, but I do think there’s more of a focus on proving we are WAY better than a Second Round team this year; that’s the new chip on our shoulder.

Alot of the big twelve teams come out for the tournament. I’ve been many times and had a great time bc each fan base is well represented. KU fans unfortunately have the biggest numbers. If your looking for a good bar, there are a number in Westport that would be worth a look. That will also keep you out of the mess around Power and Light District.

That is an early start for a number 1 seed in a tourney. Go ILLINI! Win Friday and I am coming to the game on Sat. Can't make it Friday. I want Ind. to be our opponent on Friday. There will be a great crowd on Friday for that game. I wonder who PU fans will root for in that game. I was at the ILL PU football game last year and the PU fans do not like IU. Everytime PU made a good play they yelled out IU ***** . Go ILLINI! I was at the ILL vs UofL softball game last Saturday. The catcher from ILL took a foul ball off her shin guard on the knee. It looked like the knee cap might have been broken. We have a good softball team.

Having won the BTT last year, and the regular season championship this year, I would be perfectly ok with not winning the BTT this year if we had a close lose in the semis or the final.

I do think we exerted so much energy last year in our conference tournament run that it hurt us. Let’s prepare for a NCAA tournament run boys.
