I guess what I mean is do you like the Illini getting 7 or do you see this as a game where it is close but in the end NW wins by double digits?

If Illinois loses it will probably be by more than 7. I never, ever consider betting on games until mid-late January because the lines are just too dodgy IMO.

This game may very well be the game that any committee looks back on and says...if the ILLINI wanted in the NCAA tourney they should have won this game. NW is projected a tourney team ( I know weird to say when we are not), and if so, early test, beatable tourney team, in state, etc....all may validity if we lose as to why we can't hope for NCAA invite yet again.

That said:

ILLINI 83
NW 75

Is it time for BU to come into the locker room pregame dressed in all black and have a funeral for the previous era?

:D

i hope this is where we turn the corner and realize our potential. it will happen this year, im just not sure its tonite against this opponent. there are a number of big ten teams who will love to run up and down the court with us only to realize that were going to be really good at that and run a team or two out of the gym. im not sure Northwestern will play at that pace for us. however, this might just be the night our shooters show up (besides AJ)
and we get a big 76-66 win. heres hoping.

Look for a lot of drives to the hoop today.
NW doesn’t have the rim protectors that WF has.

Very different game than WF.

If we can make shots early, Illini will control this game from start to finish.

77-66 ILL

With NW being a tourney team last year, and 99% of their guys coming back with all that experience, I'm sure Collins was hoping for a faster start than what has happened to date. Watching them the other night in the ACC challenge, it didn't look to me as if they had the focus that got them into the dance last year. I'm betting Collins uses this game in particular to get them jump started for the season. I'm not picking a winner. I just want to see that same fight and determination for a second game in a row. If the team can keep bringing that to each game, the wins will come.

I'm sticking with NW by 9. Too much experience for NW. Too many holes and glitches in our game at the moment.

I totally know what you mean but will these feel like a true road game for the Illini?

I feel like the Illini match up well in this one, 9 points is a big margin but with that said...it is easy at the end of the game to be up 5 and win by 9 or 10 when the other team starts hacking

Any guesses on the split of Orange vs. Purple in the crowd tonight? It's gonna look like a big FedEx advertisement.

I'll be there wearing orange, going with a buddy who will be wearing purple.

NW is a lot better than we are at this point. Much more experience in their system. Their D will show up tonight. I'll be happy if we can keep it close.

Uggg...you think so?

Do the Illini match up better at any of the positions?

NOT ME! I'll be happy if we win! Away with the defeatism of the past.

If we get blown out in this one, I will give you whichever one of my beach houses you want.

I predict a win. I predict a solid margin, and a team that looks really sharp doing it. I have one reason (1) the game's on BTN and I won't be able to watch it, and (2) I'm going to a Baby Pen's hockey game in Scranton tonight, so I won't even be able to listen.

OK, that's two reasons. But there better be some really great highlights!

I expect to see improvement over the last game, which we should have won. Refs should not be as obviously biased, too, which will help. I think we win but close.

The worst nightmare for our defensive system is not Dorrell Moore type of player. We can double-up bigs and rotate when we get used to it.

I think the biggest problems will be Vic Law and Miles Bridges. They only have to beat one guy at the perimeter and then it's an open dunk on us. It is also harder to deny entry pass to them than to those immobile bigs.

Very true, Those tweener guys are exactly what we will have trouble defending the most. Really need Kipper to step up defensively against them.

Line is now +4.5 or +5.0

Wow, wow! That line was 7.5 for a brief time early this a.m. Maybe people have finally figure out that AA is a neutral site and that there will be a ton of orange there.:thumb:
